Re: accessible braille translation software for the mac

2015-11-27 Thread Alex Hall
Braille Blaster is written in Java, which makes sense for cross-platform
compatibility. However, I don't know how--or if--one can work with Java to make
a Mac project in Xcode. Plus, their site claims that 10.9.3 is the most
recently tested OS X version, and Braille Blaster didn't work on it. Clearly,
they've not tested for the Mac in a couple years.

I hope they keep dragging their heals. Personally, I want their brand of old
paradigm technology to fizzle. But on the other hand, I've been yearning for
brailleblaster to make strides on the mac and it just simply hasn't done for
over a year and a half. If I had the programming skills, I'd try to improve
it, but I don't have the wherewithall.

Hopefully some one will come along and iron out the kinks.

I'm not a fan of the new index solution either, but even complete on board
translation inside the embosser is a better fix to me than high priced
proprietary software.

I mean, it took duxbury 5 years or more to support microsoft word 2007 format
on it's windows product. Mercy!

Duxbury may do it eventually but by then I will have long since
found other solutions that do not require bank loans. I want to see if
the Louis software on the Mac will do what I want. Or if I can keep
Microsoft from forcing Windows 10 on me my version of DBT will work ok.
Windows 10 is not supported by my version. But I still need to see if I
can use the embosser with the virtual machine.
