Hi,
Just before that item, there should be an "Automatically" checkbox. That
should be unchecked. Although, with your further explanation, I believe that
what you're seeing is actually just a result of the way that Google and G Mail
deal with Google's pseudo iMap mail protocol. G Mail uses labels instead of
real folders and Apple Mail and other mail clients have to work things out in
an out of the box way to make G Mail work properly within their mail clients.
The All Mail item within your Mail app is kind of a Smart Mailbox, in that, it
is not really a duplicate of your mail messages, it is actually the main
repository of your G Mail messages. Apple Mail coordinates the labels assigned
by G Mail and places a copy into your InBox or other mailbox that's on your
machine. Overall, the amount of space used up is very minimal. You don't want
to get rid of the messages in your All Mail mailbox, as they would also get rid
of them from other mailboxes. I believe that there is a method by which you
can tell the All Mail to not be visible, but I can't recall if that became
unnecessary or if it causes problems. I'll have to look it up again. So, in a
nutshell, I wouldn't be concerned.
HTH.

Yes you are correct, I have copies in both my sent folder and duplicated in all
mail In other words, there seem to be two copies of each sent message.
I went to the composing tab in system preferences as you suggested. There is a
button indicating how messages are to be sent to me either by CC or BCC. There
is no option to uncheck this box. How do I get this to be unchecked?
