iBooks question

2021-01-08 Thread 'Larry Honaker' via MacVisionaries
Is there a way to copy pieces of text from a purchased book in the iBooks App?

I can understand the principle of not being able to copy the entire book;
however, if you are studying material you are trying to learn, copying small
sections would be most helpful.

Any thoughts out there.

they'll go back to where they were before.

Hi all,

In follow up to my last message, I happily still have my deleted iBooks in
my trash, so I'd like to try and restore them to iBooks that way. I see the
numbered folders that contain each of the books. To what folder do I need
to copy them in order for them to be restored to iBooks?
thank you,

Just put your finger on the screen and you can touch each line on the page. I
sometimes do this and slowly move my finger down the screen to hear each line
spoken.
Then I can interrogate by word or character if I desire.
Flicking right and left doesn't work, but running your finger slowly up or down
the screen does.

Well, you can't read lines in the sense of using the rotor element, because it
is absent when in the content area. But you can move around using the braille
display within the page of the book and thus get chunks of text. I hope that

Hi Rich,
You are out of luck with trying to read by lines using speech. I have written
to accessibility at Apple, and I hope you will do the same. It use to be
possible, but they broke it in the last big update, which I think was about a
year ago. Another thing I've noticed that works on Nook or I guess I should
say, is not a problem with the Nook app, is that when reading on my original
iPad, I don't get kicked out of the text area and back into the top where it
says "library" etc after a few pages of continuous reading. I thought this
happened because my iPad is older and doesn't have much memory. But I've read
bunches of pages in the Nook app using that same iPad, and it just keeps
reading along like it should.
