Re: really slow Mac Mini
Another thought on the ssd fixing a slow macmini. The operating system had to be reinstalled too. Perhaps that was the source of the fix. An apple store will do that for free, or at least my local one does. You could do it yourself using the recovery method or download approach.. Re: really slow Mac Mini
This raises a question, what does slow mean? Is it slow in loading apps. and otherwise responding or is it slow to bootup ? A ssd isn't going to make a difference to any large degree with usual app. functionality. I have a macmini the same model as your's. The harddrive went bad and I installled a ssd. Booting is very fast, other functions only marginally so. On Tue, 29 Sep 2020, Lorie McCloud wrote: > oh geeez! I'm not capable of doing all that. No, I am not, but you could ship to California and I can install an SSD. Otherwise you can take it to the Apple Store, my rate is $20 per hour. You cover shipping. I just fixed a 2014 Mac mini for a guy that was running quite slowly and had the spinning beachball, I put in the solid-state hard drive and it took off like a sculled ally cat. The model that I did the upgrade on is the entry-level model that cost about $499 back in 2016. Ended up having to tear apart the whole Mac Mini Just to get down to the hard drive, note, you need to get the special tamper proof screwdriver set to get into the Mac MiniJust to get down to the hard drive, note, you need to get the special tamper proof screwdriver set on Amazon. Re: really slow Mac Mini
go to terminal /console under applications /utilities in finder type ds, see how much space you have type 'top' see which apps are running how much ram they are using , remove the apps you no longer use type 'ps -aux' to see the full path of the applications currently running, see any that not know what they are, look them up on gole and remove them if no longer needed check your starup entries removed only requried , under settings -> user/userggroups, click on 'login items' uncheck those you don't need , it wont install it just wont open at login/startuup you can alway recheck also go to activity monitor in applications/utilites and see if there any errors listed. Delete apps that causing error that yuu no longer need turn off cloud sync to make sure is not the size of date transfer slowing machine, limit to only critical info ,although wount save bank and health records on cloud, better an extrnal hardrive indepent of os and vendor remove apps you dont need use 'disk utility' in applications/utility' and display On Monday, September 28, 2020 at 3:46:36 PM UTC-4 lori...@gmail.com wrote: > some update has really slowed my Mac Mini down.
