reasons to make mac stuff accessible

2013-01-13 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi list,

Many developers on the mac platform are open to input. Some more than others,
but it seldomly happened to me that I got no response at all. I'm using a
program that has room for improvement, when it comes down to accessibility.

What do you yourself tell developers, as good reasons to make their stuff
accessible to the blind community as well? Is there any substantial advantage
for them to do so, like more revenue?
I'm hoping to convince them to prioritize accessibility ore than they do now,
but I'm mailing with a representative and I don't have a straight line to the
developers yet. What can you advise me to do, to build this contact, so that we
can all benefit? I'd rather do this carefully, and give them the right
arguments for accessibility. We need it, but not everyone is convinced of
course.

I'm Interested to hear your thoughts on this.
Paul.

Re: reasons to make mac stuff accessible

2013-01-13 Thread Eugenia Firth
Hi guys
You know, I hate to say it this way, but I think it comes down more to good
public relations. We are not a big group., at least not as far as computer
users go. You guys may remember that recently Mr. Cook made a point of saying
that he was glad we were making use of Apple products these days. Remember,
this was at the keynote for developers. You might thinkable way of pointing
this out.
Regards
Gigi

2013-01-13 Thread erik burggraaf
Hi, Whenever this comes up I tend to point out the following article.
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2012/04/accessibility-are-you-serving-all-your.html
It's geared toward android developers, but the premisses apply across the
board. You could put the name of whatever technology you want in place of
android, Iphone, panisonic viara, kindle fireā€¦

Best,
