After all, it makes sense to me that extra repository is the best place for aptitude: classic users does not use Terminal to install new apps, and apt is just required for the Application Manager which is the default install method. Yes, it is what I mean in my previous answer. In Debian for example, “apt” (with apt-* default utils, installed by default in Maemo) and “aptitude” are installed by default (also included in the debootstrap method) and have the same high priority.
