I agree it is not needed, but osso-ai metapackage depends on it and that
is the reason why it's in there, I suppose. Actually I think it's wrong
that osso-ai depends on docpurge, maybe it should rather suggest or

osso-ai is a meta package that should only be used when creating
product flash images. It should not be in the SDK.

Thanks guys, osso-ai and docpurge will be removed out of rootstrap in the next
release.

Hi,
the problem is the extras repo has been kind of disabled in scirocco,
currently. The reason is there's a discussion currently going on how to
solve this extras repo neatly
http://maemo.org/pipermail/maemo-developers/2006-November/006418.html

So the main scirocco repo still works fine

Hi,
If you have IT2006 v2.2006.39-14 installed
* For the main repo yes, pls update it to scirocco

deb http://repository.maemo.org/ scirocco free non-free
deb-src http://repository.maemo.org/ scirocco free non-free

* For the extras (or contrib in mistral)
Currently no.

* For the tableteer repo

deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/ mistral user
deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/non-certified/ mistral user

We're trying to find out if tableteer has got a scirocco repo yet. But
so far this mistral repo contains only a few packages and they still
work on 2.2006.39-14

[maemo-developers] Suggestions for scirocco?

2006-11-29 Thread Tran Van Hoang
Hi all,

In an effort trying to make scirocco officially support scratchbox
apophis 1.x, we're also trying to make scirocco better if possible.
So if you would like to have any thing else supported, please say it
soon enough so we can at least try our best.

REPOSITORY
A sensible suggestion
 * Missing xserver-kdrive build-dep packages like libxproto-composite
libxproto-damage etc.. should be available.

Suggestions like source for libosso-certman-dev should be available
won't be supported. It's nokia-properietary code. But of course any
suggestion is welcome

ROOTSTRAP/Rootfs
 * Are there any other tools/packages that you'd like in rootstraps or
rootfs?

Thank you,
BR,

Well, mistral/scirocco is supposed to be used for development only, so
upgrading from device is not so kinda right

 Is this upgrade now safe?
However, if you have Image week39-2006, then updating the maemo-launcher
from scirocco will reboot device once. It's safe. I've tested it :)
Since scirocco mistral have the same maemo-launcher version, i'd see
no reason why it wouldn't be safe for your case (unless some other
listed repos also contain maemo-launcher)

If you have, pls kindly drop me line on the problems you've had or

I've just finished dist-upgrading to scirocco and it seems to work just
  fine!

Just to be safe... Is this maemo release intended for the scratchbox
 environment only,
Officially, maemo releases are intended to be used inside scratchbox.

or is it safe to use scirocco repositories directly on
the 770? (if you are willing to upgrade)

However, we tried to make it, at least, not crash the device if some one
accidentally has scirocco repo on device's sources.list.

Basically, for maemo2.1, all the packages that are on device have the
same versions as in scirocco *EXCEPT* for maemo-launcher which needed
some hacks for qemu armel. So ... if you have scirocco repo on the
device, doing an apt-get update will upgrade *only* maemo-launcher. The
result is it will be updated just fine :), but device will reboot once

If you try to install some other packages, rather than just doing an
apt-get update, then it's not guaranteed that it will be safe.

 Sebastian

Hi,

It should work with
apt-get dist-upgrade -f
or
apt-get upgrade

A few packages will be kept back since they actually have greater
versions in 2.0 than 2.1. Pls see the release notes for further details

In short, there should be no need to download the new rootstraps
