multiblock writes Re: [maemo-developers] Unresolved issues (Week 47)
Tommi Komulainen wrote: * http://maemo.org/pipermail/maemo-developers/2006-October/005985.html MMC - multiblock writes 4th mention Does OMAP 1710 support multiblock writes safely? I guess you can remove it from the list. I take this post http://linux.omap.com/pipermail/linux-omap-open-source/2006-November/008285.html as a yes. Whether omap driver and mmc block layer source in our 2.6.16.27 is ideal or not is different story. As for omap.c it seems to be similar in current omap git tree and seems to return number of written bytes both for DMA and PIO modes [1]. As for mmc block layer there is better error handling in current git tree and number of bytes written are taken into account now [2] so the operation partly succeeds which has better chance to do whole transfer correctly by repeating smaller chunks in case of error. I will try to add this to 2.6.16.27. Maybe this will make difference with http://maemo.org/pipermail/maemo-developers/2006-November/006410.html or maybe not. See also http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/maemo/developers/4409?search_string=windows%20flasher%20;#4409 It would help people with windows based machines using colinux or qemu for development. While I have both kernel and initfs flasher running on device now I'm still missing functionality like - load kernel to ram - set various flags Or better really release the protocol or flasher source with coldflashing code removed. 'lack of interest to reveal the protocol' seems like no showstopper. Or is it? Thanks. [maemo-developers] Unresolved issues (Week 47)
I'm rather busy right now so I skimmed the list archives more quickly than usual so I may have missed something interesting. Please make a note if I did. I'd like to ask people replying to this mail to change the Subject accordingly. It makes scanning the mailing list much easier. Thanks. Here is a list of issues raised on this list I think have not been concluded so far, in no particular order.
