Or do I have to do something (e.g. pressing another button)before I can get an underbar? Press the Abc1 button on the left side of the handwriting area so it turns into ;?*, then the underscore character will be recognized. If a particular character is giving you trouble, just add your own shape for it using the teacher. Re: [maemo-users] Underbar in handwriting recognition
Tomas, many thanks for the detailed answer, that should help. Also I think after some training of myself and changing a few characters, the hand writting recognition is quite usable. There might be issues with performance, but if these improve with a SW update, I am quite happy with it. Would performance improve, if I reduce the number of shapes per character? I.e. doing a kind of very unique symbol per character, like (at least the early) Palms did? Many thanks, Rainer Am Montag, 11. This is technically possible todo, however on handheld device it is propably not a typical usecase. The physical size of the screen is not very big, that would mean really small fonts or scrollbars everywhere. Maybe these kind of things could be implemented as plugins for either TN or statusbar, so that you can for example see when you have new mail I thought about that too but it is not what I want :) etc. I don't think many people read mails while watching a movie (?) A similar use case I'd be interested in is to simply _see_ another window while working in one, at the same time. On my desktop, I often keep a window with results in it off to the side, perhaps even mostly off the screen. This would be useful on the 770, especially because there are cases in which one cannot copy and paste text, so information must be retyped. The screen is small, but the resolution is greater than that of early window systems that had overlapping windows. -- ==Leonard One Inextricable Beam http://www.onebeam.net/ ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users
