I have encountered a very similar problem on my laptop with various GPRS devices (my Sony-Ericsson T68i phone, a few GPRS PC Cards). Setting two pppd options helped: lcp-echo-interval 0 lcp-echo-failure 0 Marius Gedminas -- BYTE editors are people who separate the wheat from the chaff, and then carefully print the chaff.
