It has been dropped on purpose, since there is already headers which can
be used in message from the mailing lists to detect they are from
maemo-users ml.

PS : it would be nice if you could prevent your mailer to send HTML to
mailing-lists too.

 Hans,

I saw your message on maemo-users and am replying here since I am not a
 member of maemo-users.

Dunno if you have to be subscribed to post to maemo-users.

I use gst-ogg-vorbis_0.1.deb by N770-FREAK. It isn't in any repository
as far as I know. A link can be found here:

 http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3441page=2highl
ight=N770-FREAK

Thanks for that hint. Reading that thread, I finally found the solution:

I simply had to install the mogg package from the repositories and reboot.
After that, the standard audio player plays ogg just fine. I tried mogg
once but didn't reboot...

Anyway, I will never understand why Nokia didn't add Ogg Vorbis support
if it's that easy. After all, it's free. IMHO, producing a device based
on open source software without supporting common open source file formats
is really hard to understand.

Thanks again for your help,
Hans

Hi.

Did you add the repositories that are listed inside python´s garage
page into your n800 ?

I went to the garage page for python. It worked. Thanks.

Re: new n800 user problem connecting

2007-05-13 Thread Zoran Kolic
i set my macook pro as a wifi base (via sharing internet connection
 through wifi-airport) )
the n800 sees the connection, connects fine but neither mail nor web
works, there is no firewall, everything is set on dhcp and no
 personnal dns set.

Some troubleshooting should be helpful. ifconfig, resolv.conf. Then
try to go out. Ping, traceroute. The very problem might be on mac.
It has to pass and probably nat packets. If I remember well, the kernel
is mach, microkernel. It is different than freebsd and resembles hurd in
some instance. You should have forwarding allowed, not just in firewall,
I think. Then, new macs use modern protocols like n. Check again
all options to have g included.
At first, try name resolution.

I got the navigationkit today. It seems ok. For people who are interested,
there is a map face North-choice. Just select the generic menu (the
menu-button) and it is located along the options 3D and flat(?).

You can also click the compass icon on the main screen. It's
equivalent. The problem is you can't navigate in North up mode.
The map is frozen while in North mode and after a few seconds it
resets itself to rotating map mode if you navigate.

Broken applications.

2007-05-13 Thread Michael Bernhard Arp Sørensen
Hi there.

I tried installing zsh on my N800 right after I bought the N800. Something
went wrong during installation and now I cant uninstall it or update it.

Yesterday I installed python, thanks to some support in this mailinglist.
Apparantly it works great. But when I list in the Application Manager, it is
marked as broken. I can uninstall python and when I install it again it is
still broken. How can I solve that problem?

Hi Nicolas.

I am also a newbie on N800, but let me share with you what I've learned so
far.

Got that problem too. I learned to go to garage.maemo.org and find the
application I want. There is usually a small howto on installation.

You can still use you application manager. Try look around in the menu.
There's something about repositories there.

Try to find the osso-xterm. I got it installed rather easily.

It seems to me that documentation is still far behind on how to install
applications and how to set up repositories.

But I'm still learning. :-)
