You can install a Gconf schema file and apply it in the debian/postinst
script. See e.g. hildon-desktop packaging for an example.

Reboot first. Ubifs runs its garbage collector on boot and sometimes
manages to free up amazing amounts of space.

Are you sure you can´t get a SIM card? ANY SIM card?.
Down here in Argentina, you can have a cheap pay-as-you-go mobile
phone line, where you buy and load credit for it wiith $15 cards you
 buy everywhere.

You mean that there is no data transfer when checking the position? I read
about someone from Italy saying that each time he had to pay 1 euro.

Those lines often feature voice service, but no data plans. AND they
 come with a SIM card.

Does the SIM card need to be activated? I think I still have one I bought in my
last travel to Argentina, but I don't think it will be recognized in France. :(
And I find it quite expensive to pay 18 euros/month just to avoid this bug.

phone, then swap the SIM card with the N900. Bingo, you have a sim
 card on your N900.

I see that there are some ways to work around this problem, but wouldn't it be
easier if it just worked correctly from the beginning. I understand that it is
the FCC that Nokia cares about, but I don't live in the USA, so why should I
(and the rest of the world) be constrained by their laws?

I agree that either a WLAN product has different SKUs and preconfigs
for different reg domains or it should be decided during the setup
phase while asking language, etc. The bug report linked earlier in
this thread suggests that the N900 instead tries to use the GSM
network to determine what reg domain it should adhere to. Strict freq
output power compliance (802.11h-2003) should only be enforced for 5

Being a mobile device, it is quite intelligent to try and use the GSM network
to determine the reg domain. However, what is not intelligent is to fall back
to US when it fails to determine it. Instead, it should fall back to a reg
domain determined by the user.

And to make it better. Using the GSM network should be optional.

Perhaps you're confusing the Facebook Widget and the Facebook Widget

installer versions and those icons will go away from your menu.

Limit the email client to a x period

2010-01-12 Thread Kahlil Johnson
Hi I submitted this bug which I wonder if there is any interested
beside mine to support. The request for a feature to limit the amount
of email retrieved from the maemo client.

Most people dont need all our Inbox and specially on a mobile client,
not even the header. So my request is for a tool that allow me to have
a 1 month/week inbox that I can retrieve from IMAP or POP.

I am not sure if this is possible at all because I am not a guru of

Which Maemo version are you using ? Maemo 5 (Fremantle) or Maemo 4
(Diablo) ? Do you have extras-devel enabled?

Attempting to install it on the Scratchbox (running Maemo 5) console
gives a clue:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mcalendar: Depends: python-sqlite but it is not installable
Depends: python-dateutil but it is not installable

Both broken dependencies do not exist in Maemo 5.

I haven't checked the Diablo package.

Also note that both packages are not part of the Python standard library.

 gives a clue:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mcalendar: Depends: python-sqlite but it is not installable
Depends: python-dateutil but it is not installable

Both broken dependencies do not exist in Maemo 5.

I haven't checked the Diablo package.

Also note that both packages are not part of the Python standard library.

You sure?

You can search for sqlite and find it under the Data Persistence

Re: Facebook app is just a commercial after update

2010-01-12 Thread Timo Pelkonen

So question, is there a facebook app or is it just the widget?
Maybe I can go to uninstall and remove the add and then the real app
will show up (althought I doubt it).
Maybe I should google at maemo repo and learn what really is out there.

I would love to have a facebook app that allow me to upload my camera pics.

You allready have app that allows uploading of pics if you have installed
the facebook app (with installer or from HAM, doesn't matter)

are you familiar how media sharing is done with N900? I suggest you look at
user manual.

Ok I see that this tweaks the image app and enhace it with facebook on
the service space. I was thinking more of a an actual facebook client
like the ones on blackberry and Iphone which are different from the
N900 widget.

For example I cant send msg to facebook from the widget, nor post on
my friends wall's. But I guess this is good enough. I would also
wonder if there is a way to extend the conversations Chat to also
allow Facebook buddies. Pidgin for linux has this extension but the
library is not builted for N900.

http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/

Would be good to get it ported to the N900 pidgin. I would report the
bug except garage doesn't seem to have a page for N900's Pidgin.

Re: mcalendar is not installable due to missing dependencies (was: Re: Python packages)

Hi,
IIRC sqlite is new in Python 2.6 standard library. The N900 uses
Python 2.5 for compatibility reasons.

 Anyone has encounter this issue?

Which Maemo version are you using ? Maemo 5 (Fremantle) or Maemo 4
(Diablo) ? Do you have extras-devel enabled?

RE: Maemo Flasher-3.5 Tool documentation updated

2010-01-12 Thread Jarmo.Tikka
Hi,

Have you installed Nokia PC Suite into same PC? Flasher-3.5 uses same Nokia
Connectivity drivers with PC Suite and sometimes cooperation with PC Suite
fails somehow. We are investigating these problem reports.

It may help to exit all PC Suite processes or to uninstall PC Suite and
reinstalling Flasher-3.5 after that as PC Suite seems to update its drivers
assuming that nobody else uses them.

Cheers,
//Jarmo

 Thoughts?
