I really don't see why you would make another one when this one does just what you asked for (and more), but that's your call :-) The project page is here: http://maemo.org/packages/view/desktop-cmd-exec/ ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users

Imagine something like a widget that shows the output of an [ls] command. Is that possible? Actually the command would be a small Go program. Hi Francisco, Actually this has already been available for some time. It's called the Desktop Command Execution Widget (DCEW). It's a great little tool ! Repeat quetion : Diablo update to OS2008HE ? (Was: Software Choices for New Nokia 770?)
Ryan Abel a écrit : On Oct 27, 2008, at 7:27 PM, Urivan Saaib wrote: I've been playing with Diablo on my n770 for several months. It has been fairly stable. No, you've been playing with Chinook. Diablo is not available for the 770. Well, this is a question I've meant to ask Quim for a while now, so here is my opportunity. I've asked it here before without an answer, but some threads on ITT have brought it back to light recently. Despite the disparaging remarks by the Maemo team when OS2008HE came out (end-of-the-line, too much for the poor beast etc.), quite a few people (including me) are satisfied with it breathing a new life into their old 770. Maemo Mapper in particular, a rare example of commitment to maintaining a native maemo app on all NIT platforms, works just fine on it. The problem we are having now is that some recent apps, or their Diablo upgrades, fail to install or run, although they could be really useful on a home-bound 770 : to name a few, Canola, Maemo remote (which also uses EFL), or liqbase... So, before the Fremantle wave definitely buries the 770 platform (and maybe the N8x0 too), it would be really good to see a final update bringing the main Diablo improvements to OS2008HE, so that it can still run the latest relevant apps. Is there any chance this will happen ? TIA, fp ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users
Re: Diablo released
No one seems to have asked the obligatory, ritual question yet... so I guess I need to fill in : Will there be a 2008HE version of Diablo for good old 770 ? :-) (as someone mentioned, I don't recall whether it was here or on ITT, a 770 with 2008HE, Maemo mapper and a GPS is a great personal navigator solution - better even than the N8x0, for a number of reasons) ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users

Acadia Secure Networks a écrit : All, here is an interesting announcement from Nokia-Siemens this week: http://www.nokiasiemensnetworks.com/global/Press/Press+releases/news-archive/Nokia_Siemens_Networks_launches_pocket-sized_VoIP.htm I am surprised however that it is going to take until 3Q 2008 to get the product out. I have to assume that the long pole in this tent is the effort to get one or more mobile service providers to implement the necessary functionality in their networks to work with this device, which appears to be SIM card on a usb key. Gotta love press releases. After reading oodles of that thickest of marketingspeak, I'm still not sure what this thing is supposed to do for me -- except cost me money :-) ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users

Re: [maemo-users] Problem: automatic boot from off state
Amit Kucheria wrote: This is different case from original poster since your device was ON but sleeping. Oh, thanks for the correction. I have created a wiki page about this information: http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ReportingRebootIssues?action=show Feel free to add more detailed instruction if you need. In your case, some program was taking up all CPU, causing a watchdog reset. What were you running before you let the device idle? Most often that would be an xterm with Privoxy running in non-daemon mode. After a while the xterm goes poof and disappears with the Privoxy process still running in the background. Maybe that is part of the reason... OTOH I'm almost sure there also have been auto-reboots when nothing special was (apparently) running. I'm going to try and confirm this over the weekend by manually rebooting to the default state and watching what happens if I don't use it over the next 48 hours...
