The N900 camera app can record gps position while taking photos, and
save it within them... Is it what you are asking about?

Yes that is what I am asking, because I don't see my GPS turning on
when taking the picture, and even if I can assign cities and other
info to the image, is just pre-set information, not really coordinates
in the GPS, so if this is the normal behavior. Can you tell me how can
 I look up this info?

BTW I am trying to import the images to OpenStreetMap.

Re: Fennec vs MicroB

2008-10-20 Thread Jose Manrique Lopez de la Fuente
I would like pointing out that Minimo started as a project to get
gecko based browser running in linux based devices, and first versions
ran in Familiar/GPE based devices months before windowsce version was
released.

My suspects:

Years ago, Nokia started a project to get a full linux device running
gtk based apps, with matchbox window manager and gecko based browser.
That's how minimo started, funded by a RD Nokia project. After
months, Nokia decided to use Opera in its first linux/gtk/mb device,
and the minimo team started on its windowsce version

That are my thoughts., based in my experience in GPE and MB projects
(in their early stages...)

I'm not surprised AT ALL to see them mention the N810 only. I wonder

Or perhaps the Mozilla team is clueless about the platform?

That doesn't surprise me either as the team that started Mozilla

To get browser capabilities, you can use WURFL[1], and there are some

Some recommendations about how to write web pages for mobile devices

The other problem with Flash is the NDA that you have to sign to get

Re: maemo.org localization (was Re: non-English blogs on Planet maemo?)

2007-11-15 Thread Jose Manrique Lopez de la Fuente
Hi,

Just some ideas...

For the Planet thing:
- A 'main' Planet, keeping the one that already exists
- Some 'non-english' Planets from non-english blogs
- 'Main planet' should offer links to 'non-english' planets in its
website, and each 'non-english' planet should have a link to 'main
planet'

For the maemo.org in general:
- Content from Nokia or Maemo team (I am thinking about 'offical'
announcements, events, ...) should be available in different
languages. So when you enter in maemo.org it should offer a
'localized' version of the website acording with your browser language
settings.
- In Community and News section there there should be a link or news
from corresponding 'non-english' planet, and after it, there should be
a link to 'main planet' (indicating that it is English writen)

Perhaps reading W3C docs about Internationalization[1] could help,

If someone wants to go through this path the first sane thing to do is
to differentiate stable content from all the rest.

Even before that it would be good to differentiate the scope.

What do you want to translate, really? Information for end users? Check
first the nokia.com pages, there is a big load of content relating to
the tablets (and also to the OS) and these pages are multilingual - yet
mostly unknown even between tablet regulars.

If you want to translate developer documentation... This might make
sense for introductory docs and whatever basic you need to get a basic
application up running. However, I wonder how far you can go in open
source development where English and English documentation is even part
 of the code.

What you probably want to translate are the tips tricks for power
users that are not explained in nokia.com, nor in the official
documentation. Then the wiki is your friend and you have to deal only
with a reduced subset of the whole thing.

We can also discuss about translating or offering localized versions of
maemo.org pages. Would work for intro, but each section is a different
 case.

That would be very nice indeed.

Sorry, I can't help mentioning Ubuntu LoCoTeams[1] which really does
bring the community together. Despite the fact that the ITs are mostly
sold in countries where people speak english, there are many people
outside there that does not speak/understand English but would like to
be part of it, by getting help or contributing in some way.

Yes, I would like to see this, too. And I would like to help. ;-) As

2007-01-24 Thread Jose Manrique Lopez de la Fuente

But Gizmo for 770 and N800 don't seem to be the same:
- http://www.gizmoproject.com/nokia800/ [Version 2.0.0.52]
- http://www.gizmoproject.com/nokia770/ [Version 1.1.0.40]

So, could N800 version be installed in 770?? As far as I know, apps
for 770 should work in N800, but not reverse.

Thanks and best regards,

Dear All,

The title says it all, it works very well and a few new features make the
upgrade appealing (SIP among them).

I first read about it on the French Maemo forum

Thank you very much!

This is quite wierd (but fixable, see below). It looks like your
/var/lib/dpkg/status file got corrupted somehow. I have seen this
once, but could never reproduce it, nor figure out who has corrupted
the file.

 What should I do? Re-Flash?

No. If you can get a root shell on the device (ask again if you don't
know how), do this:

   # cd /var/lib/dpkg/
   # mv status status.broken
   # cp status-old status

After that, the App manager should start working again.

is there now support for whole day events in GPE-calendar?
