Re: [maemo-users] Platform Java on the 770 status
Hi, Despite Maemo being an Open Source project, not everything can be done in the open. Sorry but I don't understand this... I would call myself a lousy developer but even I was able to build myself jamvm+classpath including a dirty hack in classpath's gtk code to make swing work. I don't develop in C nore have I used scrachbox before. I've been acting as the bridge between Maemo and Classpath Yeah, well but what have you _done_ except of posting on the lists and talking with maintainers . In fact the only mails you wrote are "it does not work, please work on this and that". I can't help but wonder what are your hidden interests in this. Well I was just a bit angry about the flood of useless mails in my inbox ;) Assuming you are honest, please realize your very limited perspective and stop bothering me with your complaints, and stop assuming they interest the whole world. My perspective may be limited, I just wonder why you waste so much time writing mails to other guys asking them to do the stuff you would like to see. You still did not answer my question, what have _you done_ in terms of writing code? Or why do you hestitate so much writing code? Sorry for making you feel sad, lg Clemens ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users
Re: [maemo-users] Platform Java on the 770 status
Hi, I am sorry that my strategy does not meet your expectations. I am also sorry I haven't come around to answering your last private mail yet. Despite Maemo being an Open Source project, not everything can be done in the open. I gave a talk at Linuxtag last weekend (http://www.linuxtag.org/vcc/details.pl?id=321), similar to the impromptu one I gave at FOSDEM. Both were well received. I had the chance to spend several productive hours with the leaders of CACAO, Classpath and Kaffe. My last post included a pointer to various screenshots. Going along meeting your demands, what was novel there was SableVM and Swing on the 770, and Knopflerfish OSGi. Prior to that only Felix OSGi was reported as running, and the screenshot was from the emulator. I've been working with Scratchbox since 2003 and it is indeed a great tool. I've been acting as the bridge between Maemo and Classpath. That's for the activities I can reveal at this point. There is a lot more going on. I will post information according to my schedule. Keep on the lookout. Re: [maemo-users] Platform Java on the 770 status
Sorry for beeing unfriendly and harsh but what have _you_ done in order to make java working on the N770? The only thing I can see is that you post like a wild cow messages to classpath and maemo lists asking for ready-to-run packages(!!) of all possible free java implementations and clueless stuff like that which end up with no replies at all. Maybe it would be better to install scratchbox and start coding yourself instead of bothering others with your wishes and problems and making videos of console-java applications running on the N770 ;) good luck, lg Clemens 2006/5/11, Philippe Laporte <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Hi, We have obtained a second 770 unit and have produced better screenshots and videos, which are available at: http://82.193.172.109/screenshots/ RedHat et al have been making constant progress on the AWT problems when running on the 770: two bugs have been closed and a new one opened: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=27118 We will soon look into a CLDC-MIDP stack. Hi, We have obtained a second 770 unit and have produced better screenshots and videos, which are available at: http://82.193.172.109/screenshots/ RedHat et al have been making constant progress on the AWT problems when running on the 770: two bugs have been closed and a new one opened: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=27118 We will soon look into a CLDC-MIDP stack.
