[maemo-users] Upgrade to OS 2006 Edition with a Linux Host
Hello, this is probably the wrong mailing list to ask, but it is the best one I know about. If you know a better place, please let me know and I will ask there. I am about the by a Nokia 770 (a Sharp Zaurus SL-C3200 is a close second choice). When I want to upgrade the OS on the Nokia 770, it seems that I need a MS Windows systems, at least the German Nokia website tells this. Can the Nokia 770 boot (and maybe install) from an USB stick? Thanks, Rainer PS: Does anybody know, if the Zaurus may be upgraded without a Windows systemI have none. -- Rainer Dorsch Alzentalstr. 28 D-71083 Herrenberg 07032-919495 Icq: 32550367 GPG Fingerprint: 5966 C54C 2B3C 42CC 1F4F 8F59 E3A8 C538 7519 141E Full GPG key: http://pgp.mit.edu/ ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users

you can easily upgrade your 770 using a linux machine. Takea look at the maemo wiki:http://maemo.org/maemowiki/HOWTO_FlashLatestNokiaImageWithLinux I'd like to say that flashing my unit using Linux went perfectly. Just - don't forget to do it as root (or twiddle USB permissions - root is much easier) ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users

Is the headset which comes with the 770 good enough for VOIP, i.e. does it have a microphone? AFAIK there is no headset included with the 770. The 770 has a build in mircrophone and speaker and you can, with some tricks, connect a bluetooth headset to the 770. With the built-in mic and speaker? Does this work reasonably (no echos, no broken voices because the mic switches of frequently to avoid echos)? It works best when you use a headphone instead of the speaker but still use the mic for input. But still with the built-in speaker and micro combo it works pretty well. You just have to reduce the volume a bit in order to avoid the feedback.
