[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1664582] Re: comments on added journals won't show after page 1
Students create a page in Mahara, add their journals to the page with 5 entries per page, have a full page layout, and then share their page with the creative writing group under the share page link at the top of the new page (Display page Share page). Under that link, a page is displayed that says "shared with" and a specific group (creative writing) and specific users (in this case, me) are added to the shared with column with no specific dates attached. Comments are allowed, comments are not moderated and copying is not allowed. Does this help? Matching subscriptions: Subscription for all Mahara Contributors -- please ask on #mahara-dev or mahara.org forum before editing or unsubscribing it! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521781 Title: Make TinyMCE Embedded Image support more automatic Status in Mahara: Confirmed Bug description: We've added that great plugin to TinyMCE that lets you select and embed your Mahara images easily, and we've added some library code to make sure that people can view your images if they're embedded (instead of the old system of relying on the image being shared specifically in an image block). However, the current implementation relies on the developer specifically calling a series of functions in the form submission function, and there's no warning or penalty if they fail to do that, so it is often overlooked when creating new places that use a wysiwyg text editor. I'd like to see the support for this become more automatic, ideally by making the pieform "wysiwyg" form element handle all of the linking logic for the embedded images. My proposal is this: 1. Check to see if there is a post-submit hook in Pieforms for pieform elements. If there isn't, add one. 2. Write a post-submit hook handler for the wysiwyg element, that takes care of calling the necessary embedded image libraries 3. Add settings for the wysiwyg element to get the extra data we needed for this (i.e., the "resource type" for artefact_file_embedded). 4. Add another setting to the wysiwyg element (off by default) to say "don't use the Mahara image picker in this one". For wysiwygs where we don't want to support embedded Mahara images (if there are any) 5. The tricky part here is that the embedded image thing will need to know the id of the "Resource" that you're embedding the image in. And if you're creating a new resource, you won't know that until after the form's submit method has finished. So, we'll have to expect the developer to provide the new resource's ID back to the $form object, and to help enforce that, we can make the wysiwyg post-submit hook throw an error if the wysiwyg element has embedded images turned on but it did not receive a resource ID. Currently, Mahara is using Elastica version 2.0 for our Elasticsearch PHP library. The Elastica project uncoupled their version numbers from Elasticsearch's version numbers with the 2.0 release, so Elastica 2.0 was written to support Elasticsearch 1.5. However, there doesn't seem to be anywhere in the Mahara documentation that specifies *which* version of Elasticsearch we support. Even the README.Mahara file in htdocs/lib/elastica doesn't say it! So, we should really document that somewhere. Possibly in Mahara's main README, and/or the Elastica README, maybe even on the elasticsearch plugin's config page. In fact... maybe it would be a good idea if the elasticsearch plugin was able to sniff the elasticsearch version and tell you that it's not a compatible version? Of course, that does rely on the version detection system of Elasticsearch being backwards compatible. On a related note, we should also upgrade our Elastica version. Things that need to be changed to avoid this problem: 1) When an institution tries to add the 'None' auth option it needs to check to see if there are any other institutions present and only allow it if institution count = 1 2) Conversely if the only institution uses 'None' auth then you shouldn't be allowed to add a new institution until that auth is removed 3) And when you are able to add "None" you should probably get some prominent message with "Do you really want to do this? You know, it means that anybody will be able to log in without any authorization" Also as part of this change it would be very good to add a ctime (and maybe userid) field to the auth_instance table to record when one adds/edits auth details to see when things changed as this human error can cause big problems for users. Status in Mahara: Confirmed Bug description: Currently the basic pieform elements information lives in: htdocs/lib/pieforms/pieform/ but there are also pieform elements that live in htdocs/lib/forms/ Why do we need to have them in two places? I can imagine that there might have been a reason to keep the pieform plugin separate from custom pieform elements but seeing as mahara pieform is really a fork of the original this seperation is not needed within mahara. I'm not sure if this actually is what is supposed to happen, but if it is maybe we can come up with a nicer more "human readable" message? Status in Mahara: Triaged Bug description: Mahara 15.10 introduced Bootstrap. All themes are now responsive. When I tested the "Deactivate device detection" functionality, I couldn't see much of a difference when using the site. I did notice the content chooser was displayed the start of the words instead of only showing the icon on the "Edit page" screen. I wonder if we can remove the custom device detection. You can enable the user turning off device detection in Admin -> Config site -> User settings -> Users can disable device detection. That then happens on the account settings page. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1622858] Re: Can't access user notifications settings in mobile layout

Matching subscriptions: Subscription for all Mahara Contributors -- please ask on #mahara-dev or mahara.org forum before editing or unsubscribing it! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1622858 Title: Can't access user notifications settings in mobile layout Status in Mahara: Confirmed Bug description: While working on Bug 1620879, I noticed that the user settings subnavigation links aren't accessible when Mahara's responsive theme shifts to the narrower "mobile" layout. This is true in 15.04 through 16.10dev. Prior to Bug 1620879, the subnavigation links in question are just "Settings" ( "account/index.php" )and "Notifications" ( htdocs/account/activity/preferences/index.php ). You can get to the "Settings" page easily enough in mobile by clicking the settings gear icon in the page header. But in desktop mode, the main user settings page has a subnav (generated by the "right_nav()" function in htdocs/lib/web.php) that lets you switch from "Settings" to "Notifications". In mobile, that subnav doesn't display, and it's not part of the "hamburger" menus either. In Bug 1620879 I'm adding a "Web services" link at the same nav level as "Settings" and "Notifications", to allow users to manage their webservices authorizations. Since these users are already on mobile devices, it becomes more important that they're able to access this submenu on mobile. The latter one is the older one and can still be found in certain places. We should consolidate the occurances to always use the new way of adding files to be more consistent. Best case in point: When you add a file to your education history, you get the old button. However, when you edit that entry, you get the new button (see attachment).
