[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1086569] [NEW] Institution stats don't work for Institution staff

2012-12-04 Thread Craig Eves
Public bug reported:

When logged in as staff on the demo.mahara.org and choosing this option
under

Institution information Institution statistics the message
Institution statistics are not available because there are no institutions
available to your user.

This person is a member of the institution Mahara School

This works for site admin and also site staff - this doesn't work on
myportfolio either

It looks like the user needs to have access to all institutions for this
report to work.

Re: [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1086569] Re: Institution stats don't work for Institution staff

2012-12-04 Thread Craig Eves
Hi Melissa

The member has institution staff access. How do you check if institution
staff access to stats is setup I can't see a site setting on the menu for
this.

If it isn't setup then I don't think the option should appear on the
menu.

cheers

2012-12-04 Thread Craig Eves
Hi Melissa

I found what you were meaning there is staff statistics access setting that
isn't turned on.

The message that comes up says
Institution statistics are not available because there are no institutions
available to your user, this is not the reason

This should be changed to something like to Staff statistics needs to be
turned on for the site to allow staff to view these.

regards
Craig

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 993548] [NEW] feature request : Editing own fedback time limit

2012-05-02 Thread Craig Eves
Public bug reported:

Currently it is possible to edit your own feedback given on a page up to
around 10 minutes after posting it. After this period it is not
possible to edit feedback.

It has been requested from some lecturers that this time period be
extended so a new feedback doesn't need to be created and that existing
feedback provided by the lecturer is able to be edited.

This could be achieved through having a Save draft button or extending
the time period to a couple of days or so .

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 900444] [NEW] Feature request :Showing Active members

2011-12-05 Thread Craig Eves
Public bug reported:

It would be good for school admins to be abel to see when members of
their school last accessed their eportfolio.

The admins could then transfer inactive users to another institute or
contact them to ask what they want to do with their account.

This is important for the following reasons
ensure active users don't get deleted
the member is able to transfer their eportfolio to an appropriate institute
for sites that are hosted a on cost per user basis - this will help to manage
paying for unused accounts.

Is there something that needs to be setup in the browser for the spell

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 812056] [NEW] Feature request :make export portfolio more visible

2011-07-17 Thread Craig Eves
Public bug reported:

Is it possible to have this more visible with the word Backup assigned
to it - possibly under Portfolio instead of or as well as Export.

The reason is users do not often use the export option to backup their
eporfolios. If something goes wrong with an individual eportfolio it is
very difficult to recover an individual users portfolio without the
export option to back up their portfolio being used.

It might even be good ides to have a graphic of a disk and the words
backup.

Chrome also has similar problems in Windows - tried in demo.mahara.org

The demo site is currently in German which makes it hard for me to test
too much.

This also makes the upload button non responsive in the image block too.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 784313] Re: html export doesn't include feedback

I can see your point - would making the feedback anonymous be an option.

The situation this is required for is for students portfolio work that
has been submitted and feedback provided by a learning provider to be
judged by external parties.

The external parties do not want to be setup on myportfolio but want
online access to the work and want to see feedback on the portfolio.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 750301] Re: Accessibility / Screen Reader Issues - various

2011-04-04 Thread Craig Eves

Title:
Accessibility / Screen Reader Issues - various

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  New

Bug description:
A student who is entirely dependant on a screen reader (in this case
WindowEyes) has been through Mahara 1.3.3 and raised a number of
  accessibility issues as follows:

  1. TinyMCE editor
It is essential to be able to turn off the TinyMCE editor as screen reader
users cannot use this editor.
A plain text input field works fine (as per education and employment etc)
  Already a wishlist here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/548225
But needs to be user choice.

  2. Files upload
  Disclaimer Check box not obvious.
Once file 'Browsed' and uploaded, no notification to indicate upload process
having completed. Other aspects appear to be in the wrong order for the student.

A suggested process path would be:
Add a File Browse Select Disclaimer Upload Upload Complete dialogue
 Storage Space remaining warning.

  3. Local Language.
More a note to self, but advice to others. If changing Language strings,
ensure you also change all instance's to cover ALT text. We use the word CV
instead of Resumé. Screen readers read Resumé phonetically as RE-SOOM
Lang files need to include ALT strings.

  4. Add and Delete Buttons: ALT text just says 'add' or 'delete' When there
are many 'adds' and 'deletes' on a page it is not obvious which resource you
are adding or deleting.
ALT should say something like (eg) Add Educational History or Delete
Educational History BA Hons Business

  5. Creating a View;
The student can create a view, but from that point on cannot make any use of
drag and drop - partly because the student does not use a mouse and partly
because there is no indication where anything has been dropped. Suggested use
of radio buttons - process would be pick an artefact pick a location to put
it.

It is possible that some or all of the above can be wrapped up into a single
'screenreader' or accessibilty' editing mode with toggle link in the header
somewhere.
I also note that there are some workarounds that could potentially be adapted
from discussions around ie6 versions or ipad versions.

It is recognised as quite a challenge to offer a very visual tool to a
non-visual user, who would still like to present themselves to a
  visual audience.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 619284] Re: grouphomepage and dashboard views don't use themes, but can be set

2010-12-02 Thread Craig Eves
A request I have been asked for is for the dashboard view to be by
default - content from the user's institutes.

There is an institute view that is able to be created - the dashboard
would be a good place to include this view - it doesn't seem to be used
elsewhere.

The institute admin would select this option in the same place they
select the institute theme.

Title:
grouphomepage and dashboard views don't use themes, but can be set

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
When editing a grouphomepage or a dashboard view type, you can set the theme
for the view, but when viewing the group/homepage, the theme isn't used.

Options are:
a) Don't allow them to choose the theme; or
b) Have the relevant pages respect themes.

Option a is obviously pretty easy by modifying view/blocks.php to only assign
viewthemes if the view isn't in array('grouphomepage', 'dashboard'),
Option b may be preferable long term.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 530656] Re: WYSIWYG Editor for Editing View Text Boxes is not available in Full Screen Mode

2010-09-06 Thread Craig Eves
Hi Andrew

We have just had feedback from an mahara admin who sees this as a major
problem - users are now copying and pasting from word or using google
docs instead of the builtin editor.

Increasing the size of the editor window is required to make the editor
usable.

The autoresize plugin sounds good as it will keep the simpler interface
as default rather than the more complex interface of the full screen
mode. I assume that the full screen mode will still be accessible using
this option.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 623709] [NEW] Embedding avi files - changing player problem

Hi Richard

I wasn't able to get IE8 to misbehave like it was yesterday - this may
have been caused by some html code in the box that shouldn't have been

not showing as heading 1 or html code being changed.

This is the case in Internet Explorer and Firefox.

To fix this the cursor should change when over the active part of block to show
that this can be moved.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 618908] [NEW] Feature request :Image description - optional alignment possible

2010-08-16 Thread Craig Eves
Public bug reported:

When an image description is added into a view the description is
automatically centre aligned.

It would be good to have the option to left align as centre alignment is
not sometimes not the best look for text.

Bug description:
Currently the text box that has an an image requires an Image URL to be added
in the format /artefact/file/download.php?file=999

If the image is one that is stored in My Files it would be good to be able to
browse of image in My Files to select this and also have the opportunity to
upload an image - similar to Moodle's editor (attached).

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 547773] Re: Time out error when opening a view

2010-07-15 Thread Craig Eves
Hi Francois

Unfortunately I can't test with this view - this was someone else's
view.

I think the paste from Word button works better now.

What happened to the full screen editor in V 1.3 - this is required for
editing long text.

regards
Craig

This might have been fixed in HTML Purifier 4.1.0 (Mahara.org and
MyPortfolio.ac.nz are now running that code).

Craig, could you test that again to see if it's still a problem?

 Bug description:
The following error comes up when trying to access a users view

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in

 /var/www/mahara-site-myportfolio-ac-nz/lib/htmlpurifier/HTMLPurifier/Strateg
 y/MakeWellFormed.php on line 395

 The view number is
 http://myportfolio.ac.nz/view/view.php?id=13222

This view includes text blocks that have been copied and pasted from Word
without using the Paste from Word button (this is hidden unless you go to
 full screen mode).

Unfortunately once this happens the content in the view is not able to be
 edited.

By the way I experimented with the clean messy code button and this doesn't
seem to have any effect on content pasted from Word - is this right?

Not sure if this is strictly a bug but more using of Word to paste content
and the htmlpurifier having difficulty purifying the Word html.
