At the time of the 1.6 release we hadn't specified any supported web browsers, and at the time of the 1.7 release we simply said latest version for all the non-IE ones. Patches 2659 and 2660 were cherry-picking the Mahara 1.8 system requirements into the README for Mahara 1.6 and 1.7, which is inappropriate, so I've reverted them. I assume that the system requirements for a Mahara major version will not change with each minor version, which means that if we were to provide system requirements for 1.6 1.7, we'd need to look through the history of the system requirements wiki page to find out what the stated reqs were at the time we released 1.6.0 and 1.7.0. On the other hand, we're not actually keeping around machines with older versions of MySQL, Postgres, and all the web browsers, to test new minor releases in. So, de facto, those new minor versions are in fact being tested against a constantly updating set of software.
