It would appear this has to do with the former textbox block being renamed, and the solution would require that block to be processed before the main upgrade script. Since that would be somewhat hard to do, and there presumably aren't that many 1.0 sites still around, I've simply updated the minupgrade to 1.1. The json returned however has message : 'Nothing to upgrade' in it So I've altered the displaying of messages so that if nothing needs upgrading it shows the message returned in the json.
