[Mailman-Users] mailman and virtual domains
Hi guys, I'm new to mailman, but I managed to get it set up on my Gentoo Linux :) I wanted it to support virtual domains, because I'd like to run it on several domains (obviously :) I have ofcourse searched the archives in search for answers, and since I couldn't find any answers that worked for me, I turn to you as a last resort. Re: [Mailman-Users] Mail getting bounced
Your MTA is misconfigured. You do not have list.serversunited.com as an entry in your /etc/mail/local-host-names file (assuming a newbie Sendmail error). After you add that entry, and any others that you need, then you need to stop and restart sendmail. Hope that is helpful. BTW: in anticipation of other startup errors... check out the FAQ, particulary 3.14 which deals with the most common problems in getting mailman setup and runnig. As always, Good Luck! [Mailman-Users] Host name problem
Mailman Version: 2.0.13 OS: Redhat Linux Hi Mailman users, Currently, we're migrating from Majordomo to Mailman, and have run into a host name issue. The email server we use has one domain, while we use an aliasing system for our email addresses; for instance, my alias is [EMAIL PROTECTED], but this mail would be forwarded through our LDAP system to [EMAIL PROTECTED], which is also the server our Mailman lists are on. This causes a problem with list names and the admin email addresses for each list. Changing the host name for each list to [EMAIL PROTECTED], which is how our system needs to operate, causes the problem of having [EMAIL PROTECTED] to appear, which needs to remain as [EMAIL PROTECTED] In order to get [EMAIL PROTECTED] to work, we would have to add, for over 1000 lists, that alias into our routing system, from which our LDAP draws information. That would be for listname-request, listname-admin, listname-owner, etc. We would rather not have to go through that. It would be much simpler if there were a way to modify the default message that Mailman sends out when someome subscribers, when user password notifications go out once a month, etc. Is there, perhaps, a central location that I've not run across as yet to modify these emails to provide for 2 different host names (one for the list address, one for the administration addresses)? I'll be happy to clarify any part of this that I may not have made clear. :) Thanks, George * George Booth[EMAIL PROTECTED] Systems Analyst II http://ocean.otr.usm.edu/~ghbooth TSM, Listserv, and Web Accounts Administrator Technology Infrastructure Unit - iTech @ University of Southern Mississippi -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/ This message was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe or change your options at http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/mailman-users/archive%40jab.org

Hi everybody, I hope somebody can help me out with a small problem, when accessing the 'listinfo' page, the admin address line gets wrong, it shows 'Send questions or comments to [EMAIL PROTECTED]' where the correct address of course should be the domain name WITHOUT the leading 'www'. I can't seem to find the point to adjust.. My mm_cfg.py looks like this: def _(s): return s add_language('en', _('English (USA)'), 'iso-8859-1') del _ DEFAULT_HOST_NAME = 'the-server.net' DEFAULT_URL = 'http://www.the-server.net/mailman/' MAILMAN_OWNER = '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' % DEFAULT_HOST_NAME Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/ This message was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe or change your options at http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/mailman-users/archive%40jab.org
[Mailman-Users] specifying the hostname
I can't seem to find this anywhere in the Defaults.py mm_cfg.py or in the archives: I'd like to specify the hostname somewhere. Hi, Guillaume Rousse wrote: Thanks for your reply, it worked. Does it means that this change is enough to fix the problem, or is your Scrubber.py patch also needed ? You will become happier if you apply the patch. In latter case, why does it not also include this part ? It came after I last updated my patch. [Mailman-Users] Membership List - Listing All
(Mailman-2.1b3+) I must be really stupid! Though I've used regexprs for years, I can't seem to create one that will show *all* members. I thought that .* would work, but it doesn't. Why do I need to use this in the Find Member entry box? For some reason, sometimes I go to the membership page and see only one member. Why I don't know (I haven't explicitly requested a sub-set). So, I'm trying to get the entire list displayed again. I searched the WWW, but I didn't find :-( Thanks for any help, -- Prof Kenneth H Jacker [EMAIL PROTECTED] Computer Science Dept www.cs.appstate.edu/~khj Appalachian State Univ Boone, NC 28608 USA -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/ This message was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe or change your options at http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/mailman-users/archive%40jab.org
[Mailman-Users] Archive Dating Problem - real hassle
Hello, I'm having trouble getting the archives to show the correct dates in mailman version 2.1.2 (running on Red Hat Linux 7.3). I have some lists that I copied to my current server from a previous mail host (which was running 2.0.x, but that should be irrelevant). I copied the archives and concatonated the mbox files of the new and old archives. I made sure to include a blank line between messages in the mbox files, as suggested in the FAQ, and the mbox file appears correct when viewed with mailx (the mail comamnd in Linux) and pine. However, when I regenerate the archives from the mbox file, by removing the old archive directory and running mailman/bin/arch , many of the messages are dated incorrectly. Some of the messages archive fine, but others are given the _current_ date and time, instead of the date on the message. This is very annoying as it means I have a huge number of messages in August 2003 which do not belong there, and the original date/time information is lost! When I look at the messages in question in the mbox file, they appear to be properly formatted with correct Date: and From headers. In previous versions of mailman, there was a configuration flag on whether to follow the date/time of the message Date: header, or the one from the mbox format From line. However, I can't seem to find this option in mailman 2.1.2. Why was this removed? Andrew Klaassen asked the same thing at http://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2003-August/030818.html with no response. Can someone please explain? Thanks for any ideas! Also, You can configure your lists to show more than the standard 30 members per web page (in the membership management area of the web-admin). Change the value in ~mailman/Mailman/Defaults.py by copying it to mm_cfg.py and then changing it to whatever you like. I normally set it to: DEFAULT_ADMIN_MEMBER_CHUNKSIZE = 100 Good luck. I hope you find what your looking for. BTW: the Web-admin help has a really nice section on regular expressions as used by Python - very illuminating. Re: [Mailman-Users] Anyone using Mailman with MTA expanded VERP?
Nigel Metheringham wrote: Has anyone built a mailman config using VERP where the VERP sender expansion is done on the MTA rather than within mailman? yes. Even better, has anyone done this using exim as the MTA? nope, postfix. Any information, comments or config samples would be useful. I'd show you diffs, but CVS is busted for me (apparently the hostname changed from cvs.mailman.sourceforge.net to just cvs.sourceforge.net, and I'm not good enough with CVS to know if I can just go change that in all the Root files and expect it to work.) Pretty much all I did was add in a new named arg mail_options=[XVERP] to the call to conn.sendmail() in Handlers/SMTPDirect.py (because that's how you get Postfix to add the VERP info, just send it that option on the connection). -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/ This message was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe or change your options at http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/mailman-users/archive%40jab.org
