[Mailman-Users] 2.1.2 works perfectly for me on a Cobalt RAQ 550r
Ive been on the list for 6 months having installed 2.1.2 for my 260 strong mail list which needed more functionality than the built in majordomo on the RAQ could deliver. My installation was from source on a Cobalt RAQ 550r. I found I needed a few prerequisite packages, and they all built from source easily, and I needed to be careful with my placement of the icon files to show up the mailman icons properly. I followed the documentation for apache settings and mail settings for sendmail. Most of my issues were unfamiliarity with this software. Once I set it up right it just worked and has been working online with no downtime ever since. I didnt find the RAQs peculiar environment to be problematic. It just required me to be painstaking and careful testing each step along the way. The RAQ admin gui has never interfered with my settings for mailman. I just wanted to say thanks and I'll be off the user list now but please shout directly if theres something I can help with.. [Mailman-Users] new mailman site admin with bounce notification questions
Hi mailman-users, I am a brand new Mailman 2.1.2 site administrator / list owner who has migrated one old Majordomo mailing list and plans to create several additional lists. One of my subscribers of my new Mailman list complained about missing a message from Mailman. I had no idea there was a problem until she complained. I then dug through my sendmail logs and saw that her remote MTA had transiently returned a Service unavailable status. I then went into Mailman and looked up the subscriber's info. Mailman had dutifully incremented her bounce count to 1.0. But I had absolutely no notification of any problems until the subscriber complained, and that lack of notification is a big problem for these particular mailing lists which are private with a small number of subscribers but feature highly time-sensitive content. For these mailing lists I am willing to have the list owner receive copies of all MAILER-DAEMON etc bounce messages. Yet I cannot find any way in the Mailman docs of accomplishing this (unless I have missed something). If I disable automatic bounce processing, the docs say the MAILER-DAEMON messages are still discarded, which doesn't help me. Alternatively I would be happy to have Mailman just send the *first* MAILER-DAEMON bounce message for a subscriber to the list owner. Is there any tweaking I can do to either the automatic bounce processing parameters or my aliases file that will get Mailman to promptly tell me when a user is having a bounce problem? Yes, I could set the bounce score threshold down to 0, but that's a little extreme since I don't really want the user's subscription to be disabled at this point in order just to get a problem notification about a bounce situation that would likely be merely transient for my particular set of subscribers. RE: [Mailman-Users] created a list, but don't get any emails, no confirmation email
Thanks, for the advice. But I've got one other problem. I'm not getting any confirmation emails either. I don't get one after creating a list or trying to subscribe. In logs/subscribe it says that it is pending for the emails I tried to subscribe. I'm assuming it'll be like that until they confirm, which won't happen cuz the email isn't getting sent. I can't figure out where I went wrong. Thanks! [Mailman-Users] mailman crash (Traceback) question - no longer sends to one list
I am running Mailman 2.1.1 on OSXS 10.2.6. I has been performing flawlessly for months and for some reason it has stopped delivery of mail to a single list. all of the other lists appear to be working fine. There are no stuck lockfiles and traceback message below was sent out this morning so I suspect there might be a relationship between the list not delivering mail and this error. Could this be the result of some sort of (possibly malformed) 'stuck' message somewhere? Any suggestions on where to look for more clues would be appreciated. [Mailman-Users] Subscribe commands via email
Hi, I'm having slight difficulties with Mailman commands via email. In particular, I don't seem to be able to set a user name when subscribe commands are sent via email. Sure, I can subscribe from any account as normal with my email client - just send a message with subscribe and it uses my From address and name. I can also subscribe other people to a list via email by putting their address into the email body with [EMAIL PROTECTED] and this works OK as well. But with the second option I can't pass a name? Also, with the first option I may well want to pass a name variable as well - what about users with login id's in their From address that would like to set their names? I know it's possible to change your name via the www subscription options page, but it would be very nice to set it via email as well. Does anyone know if this is possible?
