[Mailman-Users] mails send from a webmail system dont get a Subject_prefix if there are umlauts

2006-12-04 Thread Götz Reinicke
Hi,

recently we noticed, that mails send from our webmailsystem TWIG
containing a german umlaut in the subject aren't getting a
Subject_prefix from maliman. Mails from other mailclients do get the
Subject_prefix.

The problem seams, that twig isn't encoding the subject correctly, so it
get invalid and thats why mailman isn't setting a Subject_prefix.

Is there a way to get mailman setting the Subject_prefix?

Thanks for hints and comments!

O.K., I did this, and it seams, that the mails are send personalised.

But there are still the same problems as before.

I looked deeper into the mailq and found, that some mails are shown this
way; this told me nothing:

mailq -q | more

The mailman server is also our central mailserver for our domain and the
users subscribed to the list are local users.

The mailmanlogs showed me an "failed with code 452: 4.5.3 Too many
recipients"-error, so I looked at the max rcpts settings of mailman and
sendmail.

sendmail accepted 100 rcpts, while mailman sended 500 (SMTP_MAX_RCPTS =
500). But I never had this problem bevore and the settings are set from
the begining of the installation (couple of month ago.)

I removed the restriction from sendmail but Mails get still lost or are
delayed (only for some users eg. one testmail to myselve was delayed by
about 20 Minutes)

In the maillog I found the following:
"timeout waiting for input from local during Draining Input"

Any more ideas?

Thanks & best regards

[Mailman-Users] E-Mail to some users get lost or are very late

2005-07-11 Thread Götz Reinicke
Hi,

we run mailman mailman-2.1.5-33.rhel4 on a RHEL 4 Clone (Tao Linux 4,
kernel 2.6.9-11.ELsmp). Some days ago, some users noticed, that they
dont get all mails send to the mailinglists they are subscribed to or
that they get the mails with a delay from some days or weeks :-(

I checked the quota, forward, alias and mailman settings for thouth
users, but everything seams O.K. for me.

We use sendmail as MTA and dovecot as imap server.

Any ideas what to check? Or waht info to provide?

Thanks an best regards

[Mailman-Users] Moving mailman to a new server

2004-01-14 Thread Götz Reinicke
Hi,

I have a running mailman 2.1.2-1 Installation on a Redhat 9 server. Now
I'd like to move this installation to a new Fedora 1 server.

What files/directories should I copy? How to start?

1. I'd install mailman on the new server and than copy the old
directorys (archives, lists, logs) to the new server.

2. edit the /etc/alias file

3 ... ??

Thanks for any hints and tips!!

Best regards,

Götz Reinicke

[Mailman-Users] how to set up just an information-list

2003-06-25 Thread Götz Reinicke
Hi,

what I want is to configure an existing list that way, that only the
staff can post to it, but not the subscribed students themselves.

Is this the way to do this:

Add the staff by "Privacy options" -> "sender filters" -> "Non-member
filters"

Set all students in the "Membership Management" -> "Membership List" to
moderated and set "discard" for "member_moderation_action" in the
"Privacy options".

Thanks for any tips and hints!

regards

2003-06-23 Thread Götz Reinicke
Hi,

I recently updated our mailmansystem to version 2.1.2 using the rawhide
rpm. The base-system is RH 9 on a dual CPU Server. Now I have a cpu
usage of 99% (on one CPU) by one python process. restarting mailman and
eaven the whole server didn't solve the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
