[Mailman-Users] bounced addresses stays there

2008-12-20 Thread faisal anif

hi,

I have the following settings:

bounce_score_threshold: 2.0
bounce_info_stale_after: 7
bounce_you_are_disabled_warnings: 0 - for immediate removal
bounce_you_are_disabled_warnings_interval: 7

then I notice that the addresses that have delivery disabled for bounce reason
is still in the members list and not completely removed from the list .. which
is not good becasue I want them totally removed and know the exact number of
active members ..

how can I do that?

thanks..

[Mailman-Users] automatically remove uncaught bounces

2008-12-12 Thread faisal anif

Hi,

I recieve hundreds of messages everyday as uncaught bounce notifications and
most of them are spam ADs of pills and stuff sent to my list.. and some of them
are actually uncaught bounces by mailman. I can't keep opening the messages
everyday to filter them, on the other hand I can't afford to ignore the actual
uncaught spams in order not to be blocked by their corresponding mail servers!

is there a way to let mailman unsubscribe the addresses of uncaught spams
automatically from my lists instead of sending it to me?

Thanks..

[Mailman-Users] add admins and moderators

2008-12-05 Thread faisal anif

hi,

I have about 120 lists on my server for different customers, some are small (50
subscribers max) and some are medium and big (100 - 300 subscribers)

I need to add my email address as a server owner to administrate and moderate
the lists to make sure no illegal actions are taken.. is there a SSH command
line that I can use to add my email as moderator or administrator instead of
logging into the web interface of each list and adding it manually? if SSH is
applicable I can make a script to do it automatically..

Thanks

[Mailman-Users] list tilts!!

2008-11-30 Thread faisal anif

hi,

I have 5 lists, list1, list2, list3, list4, and list5..

all the lists are working fine except list4, when adding or removing members
from list4 it just tilts and nothing happens..

either by MASS SUBSCRIBE, or MASS REMOVAL or using add_members or remove
members via SSH it just holds and nothing happens even if I left it for 30
minutes.. nothing until I click Ctrl+C to return to the command line..

what could be the problem?

Thanks

Re: [Mailman-Users] message delivery eating disk space ..

2008-11-02 Thread faisal anif

Well, I noticed that there are files in the :
/var/lib/mailman/data/bounce-events-*.pck

where * are numbers ..

considering their sizes (3-50MBs) they aren't that bad but with time, they pile
up and fill the disk space.. is it safe to delete these files?

Thanks..

[Mailman-Users] message delivery eating disk space ..

2008-10-30 Thread faisal anif

Hi,

I have a Virtual private server (Fedora, 256 RAM, 10 GB HDD). I'm hosting an
announcement list of about 15,000 addresses. I noticed that each time I post a
message to the list, the free disk space (command: df -h) is decreasing even
after mailman finishes delivering all the messages. I had to reprovision the
server and format the hard drive twice and restore my data when the disk is
full!

is there a kind of temporary files that mailman doesn't cleanup? what can I do?

Thanks

Re: [Mailman-Users] Extreme Slow delivery of messages

here's the SMTP log:

for 49194 recips, completed in 49.745 seconds
is this a good thing? do I have to change anything in mailman?

Thanks

I've created the list using Cpanel .. shouldn't these settings between mailman
and exim be configured with Cpanel already ??

[Mailman-Users] posting returned mail

2008-09-23 Thread faisal anif

hi,

on subscribing to my list the subscribers recieve the welcome messageto their
inboxes.

but when I post to the list I get a returned mail with the following error:

*
[EMAIL PROTECTED]: Command died with status 2:/var/lib/mailman/mail/mailman
post listname. Command output: Groupmismatch error. Mailman expected the mail
wrapper script to be executed asgroup daemon, but the system's mail server
executed the mail script asgroup mailman. Try tweaking the mail server to run
the script as groupdaemon, or re-run configure, providing the command line
option`--with-mail-gid=mailman'.
*

what commands should I run when I log to SSH as ROOT?

Thanks

[Mailman-Users] Went to Junk folders!!

2008-09-21 Thread faisal anif

hi

I recently posted here about me moving my business and files from a shared
hosting plan to my own dedicated server and got a new domain name. well anyways
I moved my mailing list that contains about 600 emails of my customers and site
visitors to the server and I threw in my personal emails at hotmail and yahoo
and gmail in the list for testing. when I posted to the list for the first time
I was surprised that all the messages in hotmail and yahoo and gmail went to
junk and spam folders!!

is it because I changed the domain name where I used to send from? or is it
because of the server? if I transferred the old domain name to the server and
used it for sending will I still be marked as junk in my subscriber's
mailboxes?

please help!

[Mailman-Users] URLs error

2008-09-18 Thread faisal anif

Hi,
a small thingy, when I log into the list admin web interface, when clicking on
any link I get the following:
http://http//www.mydomain.com/mailman/cgi-bin/mailman/admin/listname/members
notice that there's 2 http:'s in the beginning and:
.com/mailman/cgi-bin/mailman .. so it gives me the error page .. when fixing
it manually in the internet explorer's address bar like this:
http//www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/mailman/admin/listname/members
it works..
what should I do?
thank

[Mailman-Users] mailman on a dedicated server

2008-09-10 Thread faisal anif

hello, I have a problem if anyone can help me. I'm in the autoparts business
and I had a small hosting plan with cpanel where I could install mailman with
just one click. I have a mailing list of my customers with about 400
subscribers and send them weekly updates once a week and monthly updates once a
month. but as my business grew big I needed a dedicated server to put my data
and manuals and videos on. so I bought a server and paid for several months
upfront. but for my surprise I could not find mailman ready to be installed in
its control panel (webmin). I'm no computer tech, could someone install
mailman for me on the server? I'm ready to pay for the installation. Thank you
