[Mailman-Users] Python Requirement

2007-01-18 Thread maillists
Hi,

I am upgrading to Mailman 2.1.9 from 2.1.1. I have Python 2.2.2.
installed.
I am going to un-install and re-install Mailman altogether because I
only have a few lists, and I currently have Mailman installed from an
RPM and I now want to install it from source.

The manual says that Python 2.1 is required, but 2.3 is preferred.
http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/mailman-install/node2.html

Is it OK to keep Python my 2.2.? Am I headed for trouble at all? I
still need a push to jump off this cliff.

Thanks!
rick

[Mailman-Users] Mailman Update...

2007-01-16 Thread maillists
Hi,

I am about to do an update from Mailman 2.1.1 to 2.1.9

This is on an older RedHat 9 box.
My Python version is 2.2.2
I believe that Mailman is installed via RPM.
when I run rpm qa |grep mailman I get the following:
mailman-2.1.1-5

My mailman home directory is /var/mailman
I also have files in /var/log/mailman, /var/spool/mailman/

I basically have some questions and need moral support before I do
this...

I have lots of files in:
/var/mailman/qfiles/shunt/ ans also /var/mailman/qfiles/bad/
What should I do with these?
Were these old email messages that were never delivered?
(I did have a problem with one of my lists not sending mail...)

I downloaded the tarball of 2.1.9. the UPGRADE file said that the
upgrade script would automatically run. Does this mean tht I should
just do the ./configure thing as if this is a new install? Does this
take care of everything?

Finally is there anything that I should watch out for, or does anybody
see if I might be heading for disaster?

Thanks!
rick

Hi!
Is there a way that I can force to send the Monthly Reminder before the end of the month?
I tried to change the server's date/time, nothing happened. :)

I really just want to send all the member of our list their passwords.

Thanks in advance.

Monthly reminders run once am onth, based on your crontask. By default this is at 5AM on the first of each month:

# 5 AM on the first of each month, mail out password reminders.
0 5 1 * * /usr/bin/python -S /people/mailman/cron/mailpasswds

Change that to whatever time and day you want (read 'man crontab').
