The web interface at http://publiceyesite.org/mailman/listinfo seems
to be working.

The problems you describe are things that will have to be discussed
with the hosting provider (http://www.emuma.net/). There's nothing
we can do to help without information that only the hosting provider
has access to. See the FAQ at http://wiki.list.org/x/sYA9.

Hi Patrick:

You probably need to contact your hosting provider, emuma.net regarding your
problems. They would be your first line of technical support. If they won't
help then I suggest finding another provider that will provide reliable
mailman hosting and support when you need it.

If you don't get satisfaction then check us out at
http://www.mailmanhost.com or http://www.emwd.com.

[Mailman-Users] Hi new to the list - ADA question with Mailman

2007-04-03 Thread Strange, Lainie
Hi - the state of Missouri started using Mailman this past year
(currently using 2.1.9)

I searched the archives and couldn't find an answer - the admin and
subscriber mailman Web interfaces - are there plans to make the code ADA
compliant (Section 508)? For example, using label for tagging to
identify labels with form fields. We are required to be compliant with
Section 508.

Any help greatly appreciated!

If you installed Mailman from source, this is an option to the
configure command. If you are running a package, this is a question
for your packager.

This is more likely the answer for you. In most cases with Postfix,
Mailman-Postfix integration is used. See
http://www.list.org/mailman-install/node12.html. In this case, the
Mailman aliases for postfix are in Mailman's data/aliases and
data/aliases.db files. Postfix invokes the wrapper as user:group of
the files in which it finds the alias, so make these files group
mailman.

Re: [Mailman-Users] Hi, how to re-configure mailman to mail-gid ...

2007-03-12 Thread TRON478
Hi,

thank you. I have solved it:

* First i deleted the mailman dir at /usr/local/mailman with rm -R /usr/...
* Then i create it again as described in the mailman manual
* after this i configured the mailman source with the
--with-mail-gid=nobody (is this not an security hole? Why NOBODY?)
* then i installed it again with make install
* and works ...

:)

but why nobody??

thanks

Because 'nobody' is the group as which Postfix executes the wrapper, so
you have now compiled the wrapper to expect to be invoked by the
'nobody' group.

Again, see

As far as I know, there is no easy way to change this, and no way at

Re: [Mailman-Users] HI I have just set up a mailing list withdominet.net

2003-06-14 Thread Peter Tattersall
So, you are running mailman on a Mac, or you have access to a Mailman
list on a server at dominet.net?

If the latter, your personal platform is unimportant since
administration is done over the web, and dominet.net should have some
documentation to tell you how to use the software in their specific
environment. However, there is generic documentation here:
http://www.list.org/docs.html

If, on the other hand, you are trying to set up Mailman on a Mac, you
need to be comfortable with running installs from the Terminal
application under Mac OS X. Mailman runs quite happily under Mac OX
10.1 on up. I am currently running Mailman 2.0.13 with qmail as the
mail server under Mac OS X 10.2.6.

Hi

What I noticed is that I stopped archiving the biggest list that we
have. It received 200-250 e-mail during 8 working hours. Now the system
resources seem to be normal.

Surely the archiving should be able to handle this??

At what point do you TWO notice these CPU Usage stats?

 I run FreeBSD 4.7-PRE with Mailman-2.0.14. The box is a 500MHz with
 256MB and
runs a whole lot other services but sincerely speaking I haven't seen a
 problem
with Mailman. maybe this is because

 1. My lists are not big/busy enough
 2. I haven't caught the archiver process in action.

 On another box with 2.1b3 (FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE, Python-2.2.1, 1.4GHz,
 256MB RAM)
I also haven't had this problem.

How large are your lists and how busy?

You should be running a caching name server on the same machine. Plus
your machine should be set to use itself as the main DNS reslover (In
DNS you will use forwarders to point to other DNS servers).

It helps a lot with the resources.

2002-09-24 Thread Roelf Schreurs

Hi

We have 23 lists. The highest is about 200-250 mails a day, then 3 of
50-75 a day and the rest very slow mail groups.

I also ran the previous version of mailman (2.0.9) and did not have any
problems. Only after I upgraded to the new mailman. When mailman started
running as a daemon, it took the server straight to hell.

Sadly there is no good way to prosecute those low life bastards. Though we
do get lucky every now and then and level some real damage on them. Sooner
or later either legislation or technology will catch up to the point where
we can either hold these schisters accountable or stop them altogether.
Direct e-mail has about as much a legitimate place on the internet as
virtual medicine, it's a curse that all sys admins pay for. Simply put these
people are making money selling OUR resources, not their own. I am not only
reffering to lost e-mail addresses and time, but bandwidth and hardware
overhead generated by useless drivil.

you could make the list accessible to members only. if a member spams then
you unsubscribe/disable them.
or if you have plenty of time on your hands, you could make it so that it
requires administrator approval for posts to go through.

Other choices enclude SpamAssassin, or, as I've recently started
experimenting with: TMDA. It turns out that you can use TMDA as a
front-filter for lists fairly easily, with a number of useful
advantages.

Mailman's internal archiver (pipermail) does not support MIME or
charsets at this point. You are going to need to use an external
archiver which fully supports both MIME and charsets to properly
handle Korean email.

I suggest looking into MHonArc.
