[MlMt] Reply to multiple messages

2019-03-27 Thread Randall Gellens
Currently, if multiple messages are selected, reply generates individual
replies to each. I would like a single reply, addressed to the merged
recipients and senders of all selected messages, with the body the same
as what is generated in each reply, just as a series, one after the
other. Ideally, duplicated material would be deleted (e.g., if many of
the replies contain the same set of quoted text, that should only appear
once, or be omitted entirely).

Eudora for Mac had this feature and I often forget MM does not, and find
myself wanting to reply to a set of messages.

No. I guess something like that could be obtained by some elaborate
system which uses a tag to temporarily put an email into a
single-message smart mailbox and then use that on the right side of a
“is in” comparison, but that sounds a bit messy :-)

I guess the “is in” comparison method could offer a special
“This Message” virtual mailbox, but it seems like overkill
(implementation-wise) if “from = to” is the only real use case for
such a feature. Then again, if it was extended to also support
“Parent Message”, “This Thread”, and other variants then it
might make sense to add... (Implementation-wise, I'm afraid it's far
from straightforward.)

Do you have this problem for all emails? I suspect it might be
specific HTML emails for which styling of the message itself
“bleeds” into the headers.

(It's on my todo to refactor how printing works. Both to handle this
issue and equivalent issues when printing multiple emails.)

Re: [MlMt] MM is not Deleting messages on an Exchange server? ; Deleting old attachments

On 26 Mar 2019, at 0:16, Roger Bohn wrote:

Make sure that all mailboxes are online and synchronized in MailMate.
You do this by looking under SOURCES in the mailbox list. Make sure
nothing is greyed out, listed as “offline”, or has a persistent
spinner.

Question 2: How to bulk delete old attachments? I want to delete, from
my hard drive and from the server, all attachments older than a few
months. I can do this by locating the attachments folder in my
Library, and manually deleting them, but this is not very practical.
Is there an automatic way to do this?

This won't delete them from the server. It's just a cached file for
MailMate to display the attachment.

Removing attachments from emails works better in the 2.0BETA variant of
MailMate. It can also remove attachments from multiple selected
messages. It's available for download
[here](http://updates.mailmate-app.com/2.0/archives/MailMate2Beta.tbz).

Even better: If I have SAVED an attachment from a mail message into my
downloads folder, is there any way to automatically delete the
attachment from mail immediately? This would be very nice.

That's not currently an option, but the 2.0BETA has both a Save and a
Remove button which makes it fairly easy to follow one by the other.

I'm not sure why this happens, but it might be related to a recent

Try this:

* Open the Activity Viewer (⌥⌘0).
* Relaunch MailMate.
* Trigger the issue and click Retry once.
* Use “Help ▸ Send Server Logs”.

Then we'll see if I can spot any triggers.

[MlMt] automatically add cc and/or bcc addresses

2019-03-27 Thread Michael Jochims via mailmate
I have the following question:

Is it possible to automatically add cc and/or bcc receiver addresses?
For example based on the account used for sending the mail. Or,
alternatively, based on the receiving mail address.

This feature would help me a lot, especially for business mails.
This way mails sent via my business mail account would automatically
be sent to my colleages as well.

Greetings,
Michael

I was wondering if it wouldn’t be an idea to move mailboxes only by

The problem is that this is not easily discovered by users.

But I do accept the premise that the consequences of an unintentional
move can be a big problem. I think it might be best if I simply added
some kind of “are you sure” warning when moving IMAP mailboxes.
Naturally, that should include an option to suppress it. Something
similar already exists for deleting IMAP mailboxes.
