[MlMt] New message view: hide "sent from mailing list" bar

2020-08-27 Thread Philip Paeps
The new message view in the latest test releases is starting to look
good.

For those of us subscribed to hundreds of mailing lists ... could we
please have a setting to hide the "sent from mailing list" bar with
unsubscribe buttons?

I also miss seeing plain text messages in a monospace font of my choice
but I noticed in the release notes that that's not implemented yet. I'm
sure it's only a matter of time. :)

Glenn—thanks, I guess they're just a nice idea for now :)

David—that's helpful, I'll start dragging the images 👍

As far as I can tell, neither the “Download Image” or the
“Download Linked Image” popup menus that appears for externally
linked images do much of anything right now.

other downloaded mail attachments go.

Right-clicking on an image from inside an email and selecting
"Download
image" seems to do nothing, I can't find these files downloaded
anywhere.

FWIW—I've changed no default settings

Any help is appreciated 🙏

Re: [MlMt] Moving from Apple Mail to Mailmate

2020-08-27 Thread Antonio Leding
Hi Charlie,

I thought about this a bit more and in reality, the way I handled messages with
Apple Mail isn’t functionally much different from the way it would work with
MM...

With Apple Mail, I save message to a variety of local mailboxes basically
organized by topic. I did this in an effort to have searching and locating
messages as efficient as possible. So, with MM, I would probably just use more
smart mailboxes (I already use 10 or so) in lieu of the local mailboxes I
currently have now. Then I could search within those smart mailboxes for
desired content the exact same way I would search the local mailboxes.

My main concern would be performance but based on what I’ve read from the
community here, that probably isn't really that much of an issue…

Aside from the above, I could use something like EagleFiler for all of the mail
I used to have in the local folders which actually is probably a better
solution anyway — after 8+ years of using Apple Mail search, I have concluded
that it truly sucks...

[MlMt] Lost the attachment check regular expression

2020-08-27 Thread Jim Cook

Hi
While looking through preferences I accidentally typed a character in
the dialog box for the regular expression used in attachment checks.

I immediately pressed escape but the damage was done and my regex now
says “a”.

Silly me.

I can’t find anyway to restore the default regex.

Can anyone help by either replying with the default or by saying how to
restore default preferences?

Thanks!

Re: [MlMt] Show images in new message view?

Thanks Benny. The security setting was what I was looking for.

(I’ve used Mailmate for years now, and have never noticed this was
there… oops!)

Thanks as ever for an amazing mail client, and I’m happy to wait for
the button to come when you’re ready!

Silly question here - I’ve switched the latest version w/new
message view. Pictures/images are now not downloaded at all, and the
‘show pictures’ button on emails seems to have vanished.

The “Load Once” button has not been implemented yet, but it's a
fairly high priority. I've already got several requests about it
missing :)

What am I doing wrong/what do I need to set so that I get my show
pictures button back?

You can enable “Unless messages are explicitly marked as Not Junk”
in the Security preferences pane. Then use “Message ▸ Junk State
▸ Not Junk” to load images or bind a key to `markAsNotJunk:`.

Or downgrade to the public release by clicking “Check Now” in the
Software Update preferences pane and use the “Downgrade” button.

Or wait for me to re-implement it :)

I presume many users do the same thing I do which is that some or most

I'm not quite sure what you mean. MailMate, along with many IMAP
clients, keeps a cache of mail locally and you can take folders offline
to prevent synching. With a protocol like IMAP you have to weigh up
whether you want to synchronise and, if so, which is likely to be the
canonical source. If not you should look at an archive system.
