[MlMt] Highlight color?

2021-05-21 Thread Dave C
The color that MM highlights the current message in a Mailbox, the Smart
Mailbox in the left margin, the “To: field” when writing a new message, is
blue. This doesn’t follow the macOS system highlight color.

Is there a setting in MM that allows the user to change this? Or is it fixed to
blue?

Thanks,
Dave

My understanding is that they're deprecating "basic authentication"
support for IMAP, not IMAP itself. You can continue to use IMAP as long
as you authenticate using OAuth.

Since MailMate supports OAuth for Google, I expect (hope) that support
for Office 365 is only a matter of time.

I don't know anything about Duo to comment on Roger's original question
though. However, many 2FA applications historically allowed you to
append (or in some cases prepend) your fixed-length second factor to
your password. I don't know if Office 365 / Duo work that way. I would
not be surprised if they do not.

Re: [MlMt] Advice on using MM with 2 Factor authentication ( Duo)?

2021-05-21 Thread TJ Luoma
I have bad news and really bad news.

The bad news is that Duo does not work with IMAP.

The really bad news is that Microsoft Office 365 is dropping support for
IMAP later this year (2021).

Sources:
https://hdkb.clemson.edu/phpkb/article.php?id=690 also says that IMAP does
not work with Duo + 365 ("POP/IMAP and SMTP only clients" are "Not
Supported".)

"In order to require Duo, a significant change in the authentication
configuration must be made. One of the results of this change is that IMAP
will no longer work for Office 365. Therefore, the IMAP protocol will be
disabled in Office 365 on May 20, 2019.Mar 27, 2019"
https://blog.smu.edu/itconnect/2019/03/27/imap-discontinued-summer-2019-improved-mail-security/

https://it.hms.harvard.edu/news/two-factor-authentication-o365 seems to
suggest that only Outlook and Mail.app (iOS and Mac) will work. Generic
IMAP will not work with Duo + 365.
(It also says "Additionally, Microsoft is discontinuing support for POP and
IMAP with O365 in October 2020" which was later changed to "until the
second half of 2021".)

[MlMt] BusyCal bundle not working

2021-05-21 Thread Sam Hathaway

When I select Commands > BusyCal > Create Event…, nothing happens.

I’m running MailMate r5798 and BusyCal 3.12.6.1 on macOS 11.3.1. This
might have started when I upgraded to Big Sur.

I could’ve sworn I saw this come across the mailing list a few months
ago, but I can’t find it in my archive so here we go. Maybe it had
something to do with permissions?

Has anyone run into this? Any solutions?

[MlMt] Advice on using MM with 2 Factor authentication ( Duo)?

2021-05-21 Thread Roger Bohn via mailmate

Hi everyone,
My employer @UCSD.edu has just announced mandatory 2 factor
authentication login for email, using Duo.
We run Microsoft Office 365 Exchange. I access via IMAP. The university
wants us to access via a web browser, but afaik very few actually do.

Does anyone have experience with Duo authentication for MailMate? For
example, will I have to authenticate via Duo each time MM wants to
retrieve mail? That’s impractical, obviously. My “other
university,” Stanford, also uses Duo heavily but so far not for email.

Comment: With many applications, Duo can be activated for a week at a
time. With Safari, however, that no longer works because Apple has
locked it down too far.

Thanks for any advice. Oddly, I could not find discussion of any
two-factor authentication in the manual.

Roger

attack at Scripps Health, effective Tuesday, May 25, at 1:00 p.m. PDT,

Why the change? There should be more format=flowed in the world, not
less, IMO.

[MlMt] Auto-updater permission elevation

2021-05-21 Thread Michael Münch via mailmate

Subject: [MlMt] Auto-updater permission elevation

Hi,

I use MailMate from a non-admin user account. It is installed in
/Applications, and
apps installed there require admin permission to update. I’m on Big
Sur.

Quite a while ago, the MailMate auto-updater stopped working for me,
failing with
a permission error. It used to be that it would prompt for the admin
password,

but this doesn’t happen anymore.

Is anyone else using this kind of setup? Does it work for you?

I have the same issue.

It appears that from r5805 to r5806 the ”group“ and ”other”
permissions in the MailMate.app folder were changed from ”r-x” to
”——”, so executing for anybody but the owner is not possible
anymore (as is the case when installing the application from an
administrator account, and then trying to use it from any other
account):

➜ ls -al MailMate_r5805/MailMate.app/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x@ 10 michael staff 320B May 13 22:05 Contents
➜ ls -al MailMate_r5806/MailMate.app/
total 0
drwx--@ 10 michael staff 320B May 17 21:31 Contents

The same holds for the hierarchy below ”Contents” (and for r5807).
