on a tangentially related note, Michael Tsai also publishes EagleFiler, which is a great way to archive email to a searchable database, if that's what you need to do (was thinking about that other thread of archiving mails from Comcast...) r On 23 Sep 2023, at 14:04, Rob Russell via mailmate wrote: absolutely...Michael Tsai puts so much work into this product it's great value. r On 23 Sep 2023, at 12:30, Dan Romanchik wrote: I know that this is a little off-topic, but is it worth the $20 to upgrade? Re: [MlMt] archive??
Comcast/Xfinity has a scheme which may work for you. But, I have no experiance with it. https://cordcuttersnews.com/can-you-keep-your-comcast-email-account-after-you-cancel-your-tv-internet-service/ Meanwhile IMapSync is extremely useful in these senarios: https://imapsync.lamiral.info/ I’ve used it to move all my mail from one vendor to another. The documentation is a gold mine of information about all the rough edges around this kind of activity. Just to pick one example: the throttles that various vendors have and how to avoid triggering them. - ben On 22 Sep 2023, at 0:44, Jo wrote: I'm planning on (finally) dumping Comcast/Xfinity and I'm wondering what is gonna happen with all that comcast mail that I have saved? I have a smart mailbox that collects all my order-related mail. Can I archive that to save it? If not, what options do I have? Re: [MlMt] archive??
Jo, If you save / archive your email locally and successfully regardless of the application used (MM, Mail, etc.), and confirm that the .eml file AND attachments are stored locally, you should retain them locally. I recommend you try it with one or more of those emails using MM to be sure you’ve save it appropriately into a location you’re able to get to and see correctly on your machine. I have saved off my email and attachments yearly and after that rarely need to access them further, but I know where they are. Hope this helps.
