Re: [MlMt] Colored Messages: Styles.plist being ignored
The new color feature is great! Thank you to Henry Seiden for the detailed instructions. I too did not at first see the “Use color in message” option all the way at the bottom and was wondering why my messages weren’t getting colored. Benny, I’d like to suggest that it be made the default (not sure why you ***wouldn’t*** want that). Alternatively, at least place the option at the top of the menu where people will see it. Re: [MlMt] Confused About Threading
To deal with the threading issue I simply created a smart mailbox that combines my Inbox with my Sent mail, and in fact use that as my default “Inbox”. Then I can always see full threads as well as messages I’ve sent that are not replies (but want to keep visible for myself until they reply). I actually have two smart mailboxes using this scheme, one for “Personal” and one for “Work”, and so for each one I can mix and match folders from various mail accounts as needed. You would need to find the message in the “All Mail” smart folder - which includes all your sent and received messages. If you look in Inbox or received messages, MM only shows you messages in those specific folders. It’s a bit different from Mail.app in that way, which always pulls together the thread regardless of what folder you’re in when you find it. I can't really describe it but to give a short example: I get an email today that is addressed to me and Recipient B. I "Reply All." The message appears in my Sent Messages folder and indicates it went to the sender and Recipient B. A while later, Recipient B also replies to all. In MailMate, I see collapsed outline of the correspondence. It starts with the original message. If I open the disclosure triangle I see Recipient B's response, but not mine. Shouldn't I see the original message, then, at the next level of the outline, my response followed by Recipient B's response? The way things are, I don't have an accurate history of the correspondence among all three of us, and that's troubling to me. Re: [MlMt] sluggist Mailmate - how to optimise?
Hi, Like Jason I’ve also noticed frequent sluggishness and spinning beachballs only for the last 2 or 3 months. Plus the occasional freeze. Before that I never encountered any of this, ever. I have a MacBook Pro 15” 2017 running Mojave (10.14.6). Has anyone else noticed this of late? And any ideas as to: 1. What to do, and/or 2. What and how to report this to Benny? I see the spinning pizza for on average ten seconds when I hit 'reply' and frequently when I click on a different message. Or it might take that long as I try to add an address to a new message. Even typing appears in fits and starts. I'm using a 2010 Mac Pro with 20 gigs of RAM, an SSD start-up connected via PCIE. Almost the only time it's sluggish is with MM. I have multiple accounts with thousands of emails. This is not a moan or a complaint; I recognise I'musing an old machine, albeit maxed-out. I'm asking for informed suggestions about how to reduce whatever load I'm putting on the app so that it can be snappy. Eg reducing the number of accounts? I don't want to just try things that take quite a while to actually do (ie switching the less-used ones to Mail). Or perhaps that won't do any good. I would consider a new SSD (but as I said, everything else seems pretty responsive). Any suggestions about things to turn off or avoid very welcome.
