I may be wrong but I believe that's a timeout set by GPG itself. You can
actually change that in

System Preferences - GPG - Remember passphrase for [ seconds ]

Hope this helps.

[MlMt] Additional info in small email header?

2015-08-03 Thread Luca Allodi
Hi, is it possible to have additional information in the small email
header (i.e. the un-expanded one)?

In particular, when the header is compressed it would be nice to have
something like (requested part in bold): Re: subject from Luca, **to 3
correspondents**, 5 days ago.

Can this be done by modifying some conf file?

Cheers,

[MlMt] MM hanging to 100% CPU on login window

2015-03-10 Thread Luca Allodi

Hi,

it happened already a few times so I decided to ping the mailing list.
MailMate consistently hangs under certain pre-conditions.

When I leave my office for an hour or so, I call OSX' login window via
the User menu bar item.

When I come back, there are two issues, one of which is certainly not
caused by MM but it may be a confounding for the effect.

	1. The Mac is not connected to the wireless network anymore. The OSX'
wireless icon on the menubar is lit up as if the network was up, but it
really isn't. Unsure if this is simply a graphical glitch, or if there
is some OSX bug that makes the system believe it is connected although
it isn't (and with it, other apps too).

	2. When I come back to my system I find the mac's fans at max rpm, and
MailMate hanged at 100% CPU usage and unresponsive. All I can do is kill
MM and reopen it. After that, the problem is solved.

I had this problem with 5067 and I still have it with 5069. Never
noticed it before, but I wouldn't certify that :-)

To my understanding, all the checkbox would have to do is to trigger

If the only problem it would solve is mine, though, as a workaround it

On the other hand, if time-based rules are the only ones suffering

Benny's instructions from the website are:

To get a widescreen layout (as an option in the “View ▸ Layout”

copy it to the following location (creating the folders as necessary):

~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Resources/Layouts/Mailboxes/

You must restart MailMate to make the layout available.

I hope this works for you.

[MlMt] Integrating Mailmate with Launchbar

2014-08-07 Thread Luca Allodi

Hi all,

I have this half idea to write up an extension for Launchbar 6 to
integrate typical workflows in Mailmate, such as scrolling through the
inbox, previewing messages (like it is possible now through Mailmate's
counters in the menubar), and performing actions such as archiving
deleting and opening.

I am however not sure whether this is possible. Does Mailmate have APIs
I can interface with? Otherwise, is any such action theoretically
possible by interacting directly with the local file system (apart from
simply reading mails in in ~/Library/Application
Support/MailMate/Messages/IMAP/../Messages/*.eml ) or via AppleScript?

And, importantly, would anybody be interested in such an extension in
the first place? :-)

Yes, exactly. This happens almost every time when emails get stuck in

Re: [MlMt] Encrypting with key different from receivers-address

2014-06-18 Thread Luca Allodi
I think if that was a feature, it would pretty much be malpractice?
Arbitrary manipulation of key assignments is not specifically allowed in
RFC 4880 (openPGP's), although it is possible to transfer public keys to
different user packets.

The easiest and most consistent way for you to achieve this would be, I
think, to duplicate a...@b.org's entry in your GPG keychain by assigning to
a new ID c...@d.org the same public key as a...@b.org.

11.1 Transferable Public Keys
[]
Each of the following User ID
packets provides the identity of the owner of this public key. If
there are multiple User ID packets, this corresponds to multiple
means of identifying the same unique individual user; for example, a
user may have more than one email address, and construct a User ID
for each one.

That said, I am not an expert on openPGP compliance. :-)

[MlMt] Automatically stored attachments

2014-05-29 Thread Luca Allodi

Hi All, Benny,

All the attachments quicklook'd in MailMate are stored in
~/Library/Application Support/Mailmate/Attachments.

Depending on correspondence volume, this may stack up to several GBs.
More importantly, confidential attachments to (GPG-)encrypted e-mails
are stored there as well until the email is (if ever) deleted. This is
an insecure behaviour that some may desire not to happen.

I'm not sure whether this is a common issue, but in general I see the
Attachments folder as a temporary directory, not as a permanent
storage location (especially for encrypted attachments).

Is there a way to avoid this? Is this an issue for other users as well
or is it only me?

So if I understand you correctly, you want MM to be trained *not* to

Would training MM in adding an *empty* signature solve your problem? A
second signature with all the business card info you want to add to

that's about how I menage e-mails to be reviewed. I like a clean inbox,
so all emails older than 15 days go in archive. There are two stages in
between INBOX and Archive: Waiting diagnosis and Diagnosed. Both are
smartboxes; the former shows me all unread, unreplied, unflagged,
not-already-categorised messages older than 4 days. Those whose sender I
have replied to in the past get flagged and elected to the Diagnosed
smartbox (which shows me all unread, flagged e-mails). Other mechanisms

Given the nature of my correspondence it's a good system to filter out
