I've had a couple of hardware failures with Macs which have taken a couple of days to fix so a backup machine is unavoidable. But I also think that Apple has a lot on its plate with the move to ARM combined with the needless toyification of MacOS, trying to make it more like IOS, because Apple seems to assume we all have I-Phones; we don't. This reminds me of the move to OS X and Intel from System 9 and PowerPC and it took a lot of versions to iron out some fairly nasty bugs. And release quality seems to have gone downhill from there. The old mantra in software is wait for version 3 at least… Charlie -- Charlie Clark Sengelsweg 34 Düsseldorf D- 40489 Tel: +49-203-746000 Mobile: +49-178-782-6226 ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate

Yes! OCLP is what keeps my work machine, a Mac Pro 2010, running the latest (as of now) mac OS Monterey. Probably not helpful for the Ventura support (at least not yet), but I thought folks with older machines might be interested in [OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher](https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/). This is an open-source tool that allows many older machines to be upgraded to various mac OS versions, including Monterey (mac OS 12), without official Apple support. I was able to get my older MacBook Air on Monterey even though Apple has decided to leave it behind on mac OS 10. I realize this isn’t a “permanent” solution for older hardware, but for now I’m very glad to have the latest security features on my lightweight “travel” system. Re: [MlMt] MacOS 13 Ventura
Hi Benny, I too, share your concerns FOBO-wise and have previously held out for a M2 Pro processor version. Then I saw the M1 (my wife’s new MBA). Given price/performance and that my old trusty workhorse MBP2019 was worth a good amount on resale, it recently was repaired under warranty which just expired, I decided to take the plunge. A friend offered me a good price on it, so I know it has a good (retirement) home. My only fear about this is compatibility with older non-ARM software and have discovered in that regard with a couple of apps, so far (Parallels and AccountEdge). The machine is quite nice, however. Really fast, lighter (I have the 14.2” screen besides. So, in the end think I’ll keep it. Respectfully, Henry Seiden - - Techworks Pro Co. Sometimes, it can be a bit slow in bringing up a new composer window to reply to an email, but now that I write this it is very snappy about the same so maybe that was just special to whatever circumstances are going on at the time.
