RE: MI-L Email = 5 cents per - ON Bill 602P!!!!
I just wanted everyone to know that this email is a hoax! I have received it before and checked it out - it is all false. There is no such bill number, and the lawyer and representative the email list do not exist. Please DO NOT forward this on to others. Try scambusters.com - it's a great website to see if an email is legit or if it is just urban legend. Federal Bill 602P will charge you 5 cents per E-mail Sent. It figures! NO MORE FREE EMAIL! We knew this was coming!! Bill 602P will permit the Federal Government to charge a 5 cent charge on every delivered E-mail. Please read the following carefully if you intend to stay online and continue using E-mail. The last few months have revealed an alarming trend in the Government of the United States attempting to quietly push through legislation that will affect our use of the Internet. Under proposed legislation, the US Postal Service will be attempting to bill E-mail users out of "alternative postage fees." Bill 602P will permit the Federal Government to charge a 5 cent surcharge on every E-Mail delivered, by billing Internet Service Providers at source. The consumer would then be billed in turn by the ISP. Washington DC lawyer Richard Stepp is working without pay to prevent this legislation from becoming law. The US Postal Service is claiming lost revenue, due to the proliferation of E-mail. It is costing the post office nearly $230,000,000 in lost potential revenue per year. You may have noticed their recent ad campaign: "There is nothing like a letter." Since the average person received about 10 pieces of E-mail per day in 1998, the cost to the typical individual would be an additional 50 cents a day - or over $180 per year - above and beyond their regular Internet costs. Note that this would be money paid directly to the US Postal Service for a service they DO NOT EVEN PROVIDE!! The whole point of the Internet is democracy and noninterference. You are already paying an exorbitant price for post office "snail mail" because of bureaucratic inefficiency. It currently takes up to 6+ days for a letter to be delivered from coast to coast. If the US Postal Service is allowed to tinker with E-mail, it will mark the end of the "free" Internet in the United States. Our congressional representative, Tony Schnell, has even suggested a "$20-$40 per month surcharge on all Internet service" above and beyond the governments proposed E-mail charges! Note that most of the major newspapers have ignored the story - the only exception being the Washingtonian - which called the idea of E-mail surcharge "a useful concept whose time has come" (March 6th, 1999 Editorial). Do not sit by and watch your freedom erode away! Send this to E-mail to EVERYONE on your list, and tell all your friends and relatives write their congressional representative and say "NO" to Bill 602P. It will only take a few moments of your time and could very well be instrumental in killing a bill we do not want. Hi, Is there any way to change the ambient speed of a drive time network by region? I'm aware that changes to speed can be made by road type and I've changed the speed nationally by going into the network inf file and this has solved some problems but created others in a different part of the country. MI-L MapMarker Address Dictionary
I have found a error while geocoding records in Illinois. I called MapInfo and reported it, but I don't want to wait until the next release to have it corrected. Can I (and how?) correct the Address Dictionary. I believe the files are in a .adx and .adr extensions. What program opens these files. Do most geocoders end up creating their own address dictionaries? Any pointers to helpful sites or articles would be greatly appreciated. HI mappers, Does anybody know an alternative program for ARCLINK to convert ARC/INFO .E00 or coverage files to MAPINFO. When I'm trying to use ARCLINK it stops in the middle of the converting process not showing in the ARCLINK.MSG log file any errors that could cause this termination. Re: MI-L combining not mappable tables by using a certain row
I don't know if you can use Combine Objects By to do this - perhaps someone else can be more certain. But you are basically wishing to combine the columns of both tables where some value in one table matches in the other table? I would create new columns then populate them by Update Column where . Doesn't this do what you are asking? Or you could be snazzy and do a Select with an Inner Join (i think) and then feel slightly chuffed all day. MI-L combining not mappable tables by using a certain row
Dear list I have to combine tables without geographical objects which are not mappable. My question to know a possibility to combine those objects if they're not mappable. It's joining specific rows into one table. Would someone be able to explain me how I could combine lines by using the command "combine objects by" using columns in a certain row if they're no objects in a table? The table is not mappable.
