MI Splitting a Legend

1999-12-16 Thread Ey, Benjamin

Dear List,
Is it at all possible to split a thematic legend in half so that it is
easier to fit on a 'landscape' orientation page. By default, a legend is
generated in 'portrait' orientation, which is fine for 'portrait' style
maps in most cases. But I am having to create a map in 'landscape' in
which the size of the data leaves no room for the legend to be placed
down the side. So I need to be able to 'split' the legend into a number
of sections so it can be placed length-ways along the bottom of the
page.

Is this confusing??
I hope someone can help.

TIA

Regards,

Ben

MI A3 to A1 plots

1999-11-11 Thread Ey, Benjamin

Dear Listers,
I have a series of layouts created in A3 landscape. I would like to
transfer these 'plots' to fit on an A1 page. IE, 4 A3 Layouts to sit on
an A1 page. Could someone please tell me the easiest way to acheive
this. I have the following programs at my disposal:

Adobe Acrobat Version 4
Adobe Photoshop Version 5.0
CorelDraw Version 8.0
Microsoft Office '97.

I have tried using Acrobat distiller and then importing the resultant
PDF files into CorelDRAW, but I have had a problem here with resolution
- the graphics look fine in Acrobat, but once they come into CorelDRAW,
the resolution drops considerably and the result is fairly horrendous.
I'm sure this has been dealt with at some stage in the not too distant
past, but if someone could throw some light on the problem, it would be
much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Ben.

MI Search Replace

1999-09-30 Thread Ey, Benjamin

Dear Listers,
Does anyone know of a way of replacing string sequences within multiple
files in one go.
For example, I have about 50 workspace files which I need to move to
another project directory (along with the associated *.tab files etc.)
and so I need to edit the workspace files to point to the correct
location of the *.tab files. These files will all reside under the same
'parent' or project directory, so it's only the parent directory name
that needs changing within the workspace files.
Now, it's very simple to do this for a single file using a search and
replace within WordPad or NotePad for example, but as there are so many
of them I am after a faster solution. Someone told me I could acheive
this from within Windows Explorer, but I can't see where or how.

Please help!!

TIA

Ben.
