RE: MI Vertical Mapper DEM Import Question

2000-01-06 Thread Matt Fowler

VM Tech support responded this AM and said:

What you will need to do is select Tools from the Grid Manager, and select
Alter z and description (VM2.0 - 2.1.1) or Alter Meta Data (VM 2.5). Then
you can change the z units to either meters or feet. This will not change
the values accordingly, however.

If you wish to change the values, you will need to use the Grid Calculator
from the Analysis button on the Grid Manager, and with your grid selected
that needs to be converted to either meters or feet, simply use the
calculator to multiply it by either 0.3048xx or by 3.2xx depending which way
you're converting (I can't remember the actual formulae).

The equation will look something like this:

Grid1*0.3048

You will then be able to splice the grids. You will still need to ensure
that the z units are the same in order to splice them.

Thanks for your replies and Happy New Year!

MI Vertical Mapper DEM Import Question

2000-01-05 Thread Matt Fowler

Hey everyone. I have imported a bunch of USGS 7.5 minute DEMs using the
import tool. Some of the files came in as Feet and some as Meters. Home
can I either specify the units on import of change them after they get into
MapInfo??

Subject: MI Polyline Editing Tool

Is anyone aware of a Mapbasic utility for breaking a polyline between nodes
into two separate lines? Polybrk.mbx on the Mapinfo utilities site breaks a
polyline into segments at nodes, which can lead to the creation of hundreds
of segments with complex polylines (although it is very useful!)

Thanks in advance,
