I have read through the WMS Server but I'm not seeing any clues there
that might help.

I ran into the same problem. See:

Hi all,

Can I fix the label position of a polygon layer so that it wont move around
when the map is panned? I have a polygon layer which is updated freqently
that its not very convenient to create an annotation layer for fixing the
label position. Any setting in map file or trick can keep the position of
the label stay in the cc position?

Try using the LABEL_NO_CLIP layer processing directive. See:
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapserver/ticket/2447

Re: [mapserver-users] How to label a feature once.

I figured it out. The images I am using are tiled so there are 4 images
server by Mapserver with each labeled one time, which gives the
appearance of 4 labels on one feature. So, Mapserver is working exactly
the way it should and I am not.

You can have MapServer use a fixed label point across tiles by using the
PROCESSING 'LABEL_NO_CLIP=TRUE' directive in your layer definition.
That should give you the result you expect.

Re: [mapserver-users] MapServer,Mod_python and tilecache

2009-06-04 Thread Shawn Gervais

on the httpd.conf of apache i have tthose lines:

Directory C:\ms4w\Apache\htdocs\tilecache\tilecache

I think this path is incorrect, it should likely read:

Directory C:\ms4w\Apache\htdocs\tilecache

Re: [mapserver-users] error loading php_mapscript.so on apache start

2009-04-09 Thread Shawn Gervais
However, trying to load the module at apache startup (by adding it to
httpd.conf, “LoadModule…”) fails with the following error:

That's because php_mapscript.so is not an Apache module, it is a PHP module.

If you want to load the php_mapscript module automatically when Apache
starts, you need to load it from php.ini
