Re: [mapserver-users] mapfile for OpenStreetMap

2014-02-07 Thread Till Adams

Dear Andrea,

there must be somewhere the files for the WMS shootout which are based
on OSM and the structure delivered by imposm.

To find soemwhere here:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Benchmarking_2011/

We've setup a osm wms which was originally based on these mapfiles but
is different. So if you do not find them,. come back to me and I will
look for our mapfiles.

That one looks good:

Re: [mapserver-users] Layer oder class nicht drucken

2013-12-16 Thread Till Adams

Hallo Herr Kellermann,

Dear Mr. Kellermann,

I guess this is more a matter of your general architecture and/or client
than a matter of mapserver. In general for mapserver there is no
difference between a request for showing and a request for printing -
normally mapserver even does not know whether the client wants to show
or print a map.

You know that the path

means, that mapserver looks for this file in the servers root directory?

If the pixmap is stored relative to the mapfile, remove the leading /

depending on your environemnt you use for your server you may use any
scripting language, when you pass the image-request to a script, e.g. use

-php
-ruby
-python
-java

either of them is offering any method to save images.

For simpe php you find some hints and code-examples here:

Re: [mapserver-users] Mapserver Layer Filter

2012-01-12 Thread adams
Dear Håkon,

I am not quite sure about MSSQL databases, but for postgres I would
suggest creating a view on the datatable and using the view as datasource.
This gives you higher flexibility, although a WHERE-clause in the
datarequest in the mapfile is possible at all (see this postgis examples
here: http://mapserver.org/input/vector/postgis.html).

You get the highest flexibility, if you use a kind of variable
substitution as filter by passing a vendor specific parameter to the
map-request. (http://mapserver.org/mapfile/variable_sub.html), use this
in combination with the WHERE clause from above.
In order to make sure, that unauthorized users could not access the
forbidden attributes, you have to use something like a proxy between
the requesting client and the mapserver, which adds this parameter for
you and in the same state deletes all other possibly added parameters
and also checks for authorization.

 Betreff: [mapserver-users] Mapserver Layer Filter

 Hi there, Mailing List,

We have a customer that wants their maps to be published
online, but some of the features is confidential and should
 not be displayed.

We have added following to the layer definition:

 FILTER ('[type]' != GRØFT )

It works, the features with type GRØFT are not showed in the map.

However, we have a window that let the user browse the data,
and it will be possible to access the features of type GRØFT.
When you press show in map, the JavaScript clients triggers
a WFS request with a filter asking for elements with the
current ID. By doing this, WFS omits the LAYER FILTER
definition, so the element can be showed in the map, even if
it is of type GRØFT. I need a way to make sure the WFS can't
deliver any data of type GRØFT.

 I've seen three possible solutions:

 1. We have a service that automatically converts
uploaded MapInfo *.TAB-files to SHP. If I am correct, I could
use the -where-argument on the ogr2ogr to filter data and
only get features which does not have type GRØFT. I hope I do
not have to do this, since debugging and developing a windows
 service is quite tricky.

 2. Add additional filter values to the WFS query. I
could also define the types not to show in the JavaScript,
and let the application automatically add
PropertyIsNotEqualTo-tags to the AJAX query. This would be
less secure, and I need to define types not to show at two places.

 3. The best solution in my eyes is to let the magic
happen in the MAP-file, and that is mostly why I am posting
here. Is there a way to add a query to the Layer Data
definition, like you do if you are querying a MSSQL database?
I can imagine a syntax like this:
 CONNECTIONTYPE OGR
 CONNECTION TM_Nett/TM_Points
 DATA SELECT * FROM tm_points WHERE type!='GRØFT'
It does not seem to work.

Any suggestions, especially regarding the third solution?

 Best regards,

 Håkon Åmdal

[mapserver-users] print config question / pdf-layers

2010-12-09 Thread adams

Dear Mapfishers,

I have a question regarding the pdf output of the print-module. We have
a mapping client with external wms such as orthophotos and internal wms
with some kinds thematic maps.

The print works fine but... somebody found out, that it is possible to
switch the layers off inside the pdf (e.g. using adobe viewer, as the
customers do) - which causes a legal problem with the terms of use of
the external data. They must be delivered in a print inseperable
together with the thematic maps. (Of course I know I can take the
external wms out of the application and print it seperated from the rest
of the data somewhere else, but this is not my problem ... the problem
is more ... let's say political ;-) )

So my question is, is there a config-method which forces the print
module to put all layers in one image first and then puts this into the
pdf or is there a possibility to disable to view the seperate layers
inside the Pdf?

Best regards,
Till

Re: [mapserver-users] Another newbie needing help with a mapfile (projections)...

2010-11-11 Thread adams

Dear MM,

I guess your problem is the
SHAPEPATH .

Try first to add the full OR relative (from where your *.map is)
datapath in your data-statement of the layer, e.g. :

   DATA /this/is/the/path/to/mattarello.shp

If that works, add that path to your shapepath

Hello!

I have a problem with Mapserver which I am apparently unable to solve.
I have a mapserver installation which is queried by a web component,
that uses virtual earth tile addressing. It works really great. My web
component queries it like this:

http://localhost/MapServ/mapserv.exe?map=mymap.mapmode=tiletilemode=vetile=1202213133323032212layers=aaa

Until now it worked with ECW files only, and I had no problems. But
now I need to add a shape file, and I just can't get it to work! I
googled extensively the whole morning but I was unable to find any
solution.

Ogrinfo says this:

**
INFO: Open of ... using driver `ESRI Shapefile' successful.

This map has the same extent as the ecw I am using and it was provided
by the same person, so I just thought to use the same projection as
the ECW. I also thought that the output projection should be the same
as the one I am using with the ECW, to work with the web component.

Unfortunately, all tiles I get are just blank, and calling mapserver
in map mode also renders a blank map.

If I comment out the projection inside the layer, calling mapserver in
map mode, it displays the map. But the tile is still blank.

I am probably using the wrong projection, but I really can't figure
out how to find the correct one, or how to translate the ogrinfo
information to the mapfile!

Here is the mapfile I am using.

2). In the mapfile, in the MAP section add a line

You can put the symbol definition in your map file, or in a symbols

Re: [mapserver-users] Migration to MapServer

2010-06-12 Thread adams

yUser,

I think it's more a client specific issue, what you are looking for.
Mapserver is able to serve your street-maps , but it is not a client
(=user interface), which googlemaps also delivers.
Perhaps you should have a look on OpenLayes, if you look for a good
replacement on that side.

Some answers:
1. OSM (www.openstreetmap.org) - you'll have to set them up as
mapserver-maps and in mapserver you may make them look like the googlemap.

2. see openlayers (wqww.openlayers.org)
3. definitively scriptable but I think there is nothing out-of.the box.

One week is not many, specially if you are not familar with the mapping
stuff in general and mapserver and/or openlayers or other client-side
software...

Street data? (I found some data but I am wondering if they will have a
similar look and feel like the Google Maps - maybe not too cool but
should be good enough to see streets and roads rather than just line

capability to draw polylines on the map. Does the MapServer scripting
allow drawing of polylines? 3. If there are points on a map and if a
bounding box rectangle is drawn on the map, can the MapServer script
allow finding which points are within the bounding box (with lat/lng
cooordinates)? Hoping to get all of this done within 1 week or so..I
hope this is a reasonable time estimate for this migration. If you
have ideas about this, please let me know? Thanks.

Heiko,

If you know your generated filename you also could add it as
Vendorspecific parameter to the map-request:

Request http:// map=/path/to/mapfile.mapparams
filename=yourfile.tif

In the mapfile you need sth. like that:

LAYER
TYPE RASTER
DATA /path/to/%filename%

I'm not quite sure, if I hit the correct syntax just from mind. See here:

I don't think, that it would work with

But a WMS is doing what you are asking for:
create Raster images on the fly
so perhaps you could use your script as WMS and call it with

you could add the parameters your script needs directly to the

CONNECTION http://.../yourscript?param1=gtfgt2=...;

or
2) Is it possible to rediret the output of the script as input to

Stepping through the docs the only solution i can think of in the
moment is to generate a temp.img (and temp.tlw)and pass that filename
as variable to the DATA tag inside the mapfile.

Any pointer to some more infos is highly appreciated.

Preprocessing is not a solution since we have dozends of options for
generating the images.

Chris,

this is more a client side implementation. OpenLayers e.g. offers
functionalities to implement sth. like that, theres also a Mapbender
tool which is able to deal with that. I think it's worth to have a look
for your client, in which you want to represent your maps.

I am not aware at any mapscript-mapserver functionality doing that, but
I personally never used that part of mapserver

What you see in your link is also a kind of webmapping-client (usually
defined as a template in the mapfile), you can look behind if you browse
the source code of that site.

Re: [mapserver-users] Reprojection from ETRS89 to ED5030

2009-12-02 Thread Till Adams

David,

did you define the epsg the WMS should be valid for in the wms metadata
section ?

Should be like this:

 'WMS_SRS' 'epsg:23030 epsg:25830'

If you have the direct getMap request and you didn't do the above,
mapserver reports an error like

projection library error. no system list, errno: 2

Regards, Till

Hi everyone!

I have some problems to reproject WMS service from ETRS89 to ED5030 in tools
like ArcGis or gvSIG. I´ve defined all the layers with PROJECTION 25830
(ETRS89).

As majority knows there is an internal mapserver´s file called epsg
(\ms4w\proj\nad) where It´s possible to define diferents reprojections. The
definition line to define reprojection from ED5030 to ETRS89 is the
following one in my server:

23030 +proj=utm +zone=30 +ellps=intl +towgs84=-87,-98,-121,0,0,0,0
+units=m +nadgrids=sped2et.gsb +no_defs

Therefore I suppose I have to change this line to inverse reprojection (from
ETRS89 to ED5030):

25830 +proj=utm +zone=30 +ellps=GRS80 +units=m +no_defs

,but I have no clue about it.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

David

Niels-Peter,

I really do not see the need for this.

All things, which are fun regarding Mapserver are not possible with
GoogleMaps, e.g. reprojection or define your map layout in an easy way.
Even if you would write some piece of code, which would enable mapserver
getting that google tiles as a datasource you'll have at least a slower

Yes, it could be a violation of terms, but not if the copyright notice and
links still is there - or am I wrong on that ?
At least, thats this is what the Openlayers community thinks.
I think it would be a very nice if that could be accomplished with MapServer
too.

Many clients *can't* do this, and it does cause a problem for those clients.
For example, it's difficult for qgis to consume Google Maps tiles, last
I looked, but it can consume a WMS easily, so you can imagine using
MapServer as the integration point.

Web-based clients aren't the only types of clients that MapServer
WMSes have, and are the only clients that can consume Google Maps.

Re: [mapserver-users] analysis web using Map Server

2009-07-07 Thread Till Adams

Dear Gito,

UMN is not a real GIS application itsself, UMN is more capable for
showing processed GIS data in the internet. There are some possibilities
to interact with PostGIS, but if you really want to interpolate data
from points to surfaces, you should think about using a GIS in your
backend (e.g. GRASS, which supports a PHP, python (and some others
based) interface to web-applications).
As an example we use GRASS as backend so that users may interpolate
time-series of measured soil-moisture data and present this data via UMN
Mapserver in an OpenLayers based client.

So, what you need is an architecture, not purely UMN.
Correct me, if I'm wrong... -)

Hope this points you in a direction

Hi all,

I am just introduced to Map Server, I've developed a web server with
Fedora 7 and would like to develop a tool for map analysis in web by
using Map Server.. Advise please, how to make a map interpolation with
Map Server? and also the requirement for developing the interpolation?

Thanks

The upper is the SVG code comes from the mapserver, where the SVG

is missing in the upper SVG. Both mapservers are 4.10, are compiled with
the flag --with-svg and use exactly the same mapfile could it be
that there are any differences in the linked GD library or the

Till,

Did you really mean SVG? SVG is a vector format which is rendered by
the browser, are you using the same browser to access both servers?

I'd suggest you start by comparing the SVG output from both to try to
figure the difference (it's XML-ish) between the output from your two
servers, and then we can go from there.

Dear Paul,

sorry, I'm the one who crimed Avein ages ago. I really forgot about that
software.
Avein is made for use in ArcView GIs 3.x only, so you'll need this piece
of software to run Avein. Undortunately Avein's last version goes on
Mapserver v4.2 or so, which should'nt matter, but there are no
opportunities for use of newer UMN functions.

Also AveiN! does not translate avl files, it is only made as an
interface between ArcViwew 3 projects and UMN.
A newer version for ArcGIS called Amein! was made 4 years ago, there you
can translate *some* of the symbols and patterns, but also not all. So
the way to go (if softwarei s there() might be to use ameiN1, to iport
the avl files into ArcGIs and try with that. Or forget about that and
you try on your own :-)

John,

no problem, if you have one (physical or virtual) server and one cgi-dir
just give the mapservers different namens

e.g. mapserv52, mapserv50, ...

If there is just one server (and one CPU) keep in mind, that every
mapserver-thread runs on it's own, so there is no difference between
having two mapserv's in one cgi-dir or just one, which wil be started twice.

use gdaltindex to create a raster catalog for your rasters, this is a
shapefile, in the example called index.shp.

(need to install gdal-utils)

Then create a layer like this:

LAYER
 NAME 'luftbild'
 TYPE RASTER
 TILEINDEX '/path/to/index.shp'
 TILEITEM 'location'
 STATUS ON

 METADATA
   'WMS_SRS' 'epsg:[EPSG]'
   WMS_TITLE 'Rasters ..'
 END

 PROJECTION
   'init=epsg:[EPSG]'
 END

END

Dear List,

I got a couple of Rater images (geoTIFF) and I wonder how I can get
them all into one mapserver application. It's actually a big map
composed of many tiles. The mapfile actually allowas only one
TIFF-file to display, or am I completely wrong?

valerio,

OK, I think you may use more than one subvar, but if there are too many, ...

And there is no way to group the points together in any attribute, which
are shown together?

One solution might be to generate a temporary view in a database (if the
points come out of such) and then

send the name of the view via subvar to your file.

Even better, generate a string out of your selected gid's like

1,3,45,567,789,790

Send this Stringvia subvar to your mapfile and use a WHERE gid IN ('
YOURSTRING ') in your SQL in the mapfile...

Another possible solution might be...hack around and not really fine,
but write a temporary SLD file - which only works when using mapserver
as WMS server.
You can let a script write a temporary-SLD file, where your filter is
set to your ids and apply this to your getmap request
(SLD=path/tp/your_name.xml).

To ensure, that only user A uses his filtered SLD, we normally used the
PHP session ID or sth similar for naming the sld.

Many ideas, find the best way for you...

Dear Till,

Thanks for the suggestion.

But with variable substitution I am able to specify only one parameter
like

EXPRESSION ([FNR]=%myid%) .

in this case on the map will be shown only one point (if myid is
unique) or a group of points (if myid is shared among them)

in my case I want show the points with myid1,myid2,myid3...

how I should set this into the mapfile ?

although, most of the time we have a database, so we do not care :-)

thanks and happy to see you soon in Cape Town --

The IN operator works with all datasources since it's an expression.
I've done this before and it works fine although there are probably some
practical limits in the number of features you'd want to deal with this
way. If you can group the IDs into one var (e.g ids) and then use an
expression like:

  EXRESSION ('[myid] in '%ids')

That should work...

But with variable substitution I am able to specify only one parameter

like

EXPRESSION ([FNR]=%myid%) .

in this case on the map will be shown only one point (if myid is
unique) or a group of points (if myid is shared among them)

in my case I want show the points with myid1,myid2,myid3...

how I should set this into the mapfile ?

regards

Valerio

Dear Valerio,

I guess what you need is this:
http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/docs/reference/mapfile/variable_sub

So add a variable substitution and insert it into your expression

in
the

CALL section of your layer.

 Till
 Dear list,

 I have this question:

I have a map file in which there is a POINT layer that uses a
shapefile as datasource. Is possible with mapserver to do a

request to

show only some point on the map ?

I know that i can show a group of points or only one point using

FILTER and CLASSITEM into the map file but my goal is a bit

different.

In my case each poi has an ID into the shapefile, and I want

make
a

request to serve the follow question:

Show on map the poi with ID 3,6,8.

 any suggetsion ?

P.S I'm using CGI interface maybe is this possible to do with
mapscript ?

 thanks everybady

 Valerio

Re: [mapserver-users] Connexion between Mapserver MySql

2008-04-18 Thread Till Adams

Clement,

look on the mapserver homepage, I've sent a mysql/ovf howto document
there last year. It describes step by step what to do.

http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/docs/howto/debian-odbc-mysql

There is another one:
http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/docs/howto/ogrmysql

Hope that helps!
Regards, Till

Hi!

I would like use Database data to print point on my map.
I searched on the web and found the method to that.
So, I have the following code in a .ovf file:

-

MYSQL:gpvfr,user=gpvfr2,password=,host=localhost,port=3306,tables=terrain
SELECT a.oaci, lat, 'long', nom FROM terrain t,airfields a WHERE a.oaci = t.oaci

EPSG:27582

wkbPoint

-

And when I run ogrinfo on this file, I obtain:

---
ERROR 1: MySQL connect failed for:
gpvfr,user=gpvfr2,password=31p87qr2,host=localhost,port=3306,tables=terrain;airfields
Access denied for user 'gpvfr2'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

I'm sure of the connexion informations and MySql is installed on my system and
GDAL library has been built with ogr option.

Where is the problem?

Thanks for your help and sorry for my English, I'm frenchy :)
Sincerely yours
Clement
