Hi all!

I'm unsure whether all of you are subscribed to the website mailing
list, but a short status update ...

The Design team started a wiki page to collect everything Foundation
Funding related ...
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/FoundationChallenge

The first web banner is here:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/cgi_img_auth.php/5/58/LibreOffice_FoundationChallenge_WebBanner_728x90.png

More will be added here:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/FoundationChallenge#Web_Banner

General question: How to announce the availability of the banners (of
course, first we need some more), so that people start to use them on
their own pages?

Cheers,
Christoph

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Re: Great artwork

2011-02-18 Thread Paulo José

Hi Christoph!

Yeah, this request was done in my blog too. The suggested resolution is
1600px large. Would be it enough? For make sure, I'm thinking to render
at 2500px. (I know some developers have even bigger screens... *my dream*)

And, as I said few minutes ago, today I'm having some left time, so your
ask will be answered sooner than you was thinking. :) I just did not it
before because it's not just re-render the pictures, but I need too
increase the quality of textures (export again in Inkscape) and the mesh
resolution (with a subdivision process called SubSurface) and it
increase a bit the render time too. But today I'm sure it'll be possible. ;)

I know you are not in a hurry. It's just to explain a little bit the
process. :P

See you,
~Paulo

WELL - never mind - it was a thought and now I realize it is a day late

Well I did a micro-site last year at the OOo wiki. No reason not to just
copy-paste it, and update the info for this year.
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dfd

It had some 'interim' information like quotes from the local communities.
And also a listing of the events borrowed from the DFD site. So here are
some action items we can include on this version.

Howdy Alexandro,

I was specifically suggesting that if someone is already planning on
holding an event for DFD, then they could if they wanted to include this
TDF specific flyer - I will be doing a brown bag presentation at the
local university library this year and plan on doing this.

I would also like to urge folks to do something for DFD - irrespective
of the fund raiser - and to update the wiki pages with details.

So, poor ml etiquette, hey - mixing multiple purposes.. :-/

Perhaps I should send a separate email.

Could to talk to you. Best wishes,

Drew

Hello again,

Wanted to follow up with that last email and remind folks of the coming
Document Freedom Day

- There is already an English and Espagnol page on the wiki
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/DFD
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/DFD/es

[not sure if those should have a different layuot w/regard to language
pages]

So - looks like a good place to list your events.

For your information there is also a fund raiser flyer being produced,
suitable for making copies vs printing in. An English and Spanish
version will be used in an upcoming show, the odt and pdf files will
remain available on the wiki, along with a German flyer.

[the flyers are not finalized yet..so links to come later]

IMO it would be acceptable, and worthwhile, to use such flyers at a DFD
event, helping with a final push for the campaign, should you want to.

Thanks

the White House and other parts of the government are moving more and
more of its work to open source software.

This is a good thing for marketing. If the US government is now
embracing the open source community, maybe LibreOffice can use that in
its marketing campaign. It would be a great thing to see if we can get
the White House to endorse LibreOffice efforts, and maybe start using it
withing their agencies.

So does anyone know a way to get the White House, or the proper people
in the US government, to look at LibreOffice's efforts in the open
source community and to review the software package? The article seems
to be a possible boost to the several packages it named that the White
House and other agencies use. What would such an article do for
LibreOffice if the White House started to use LibreOffice?

They are also looking at putting back doors on some so that they can
"listen" in for "security reasons". Hmmm.
