Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Small marketing task: draft some text about why ODF is vital for freedom
A little "over the top" as we say in the USA. A bit too political. The message really is that the defacto platform out there is just plain poor software design, proprietary and not open. Just because "everybody" uses it, doesn't make it good. It makes the salesman good. I like the focus on "stable", "good design" Ben Levitan -Original Message- From: Christopher Dreher To: marketing@global.libreoffice.org Sent: Tue, Apr 6, 2021 7:13 am Subject: Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Small marketing task: draft some text about why ODF is vital for freedom I'll be glad to help! -Christopher Dreher On 2021-04-06 5:46 a.m., Mike Saunders wrote: > Hello, > > Someone sent me this link: > > https://freedomhouse.org/reports/publication-archives > > It's an analysis of countries in the world and their levels of freedom, > based on political rights, civil liberties and other factors. > > Check out the "Comparative and Historical Data" -- it's all provided in > Excel format. Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Visual Identity of LibreOffice Ecosystem
I believe we need a lock in key symbol. Like a penis in a vagina . It is a visual identity that would have a positive effect that everyone can relate with. Seriously? What are we even talking about/ doing? Why? My other idea for a logo is the middle finger wrapped in a peace sign. That's how we greet each other where I am from= Boston, MA. It's a universal indicator of direction when driving. We are proud MASSholes. Best, of the best, of the best- Sir, graduated with honors. And yet, I still have no idea why we are here? Dude you are running one of the most elite free, open-sourced software / non proprietary office software suites and you are worried about logos? You have to know your worth, and just realize it is a survival mode activity. How did you get paid today? Imagine that this is part of your job description= survive. On the random rare parts of undisturbed wilderness, or for the most unfortunate few, homeless in metropolises, survival is the most important priority. So can we come up with a game plan as to how to bring down Microsoft? Any takers? -Christopher Dreher San Juan, PR 00923 On 2021-03-30 5:06 p.m., Italo Vignoli wrote: We have started brainstorming about the development of a visual identity for the LibreOffice Ecosystem, to help the recognition of companies and individuals developing products based on the LibreOffice Technology or doing business around LibreOffice. We would like to get community members' opinions about this idea. Having a visual identity would have a positive effect, as it would help recognizing LibreOffice Ecosystem members, and would help TDF marketing in supporting the annoucements under a single umbrella. We are open to other opinions, and before launching a contest - based on the experience of the anniversary visual - for the development of a logo we would like to understand if the community feels it appropriate to have such a visual identity (based on the logo). Discussion is open on this list until April 20, in order to be able to provide a summary for the following BoD meeting on April 23. I would say that a clear logo, expressing the feeling of quality, is appropriate for the goal and something that any party in the ecosystem would love to use.
