Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Localized LibreOffice to be used in Govt of Maharashtra, India

2015-03-06 Thread Danishka Navin
I found something from a document upload released on last November. ;-)

Hon’ble CM appreciated the work done by CDAC Pune for developing Sakal
Marathi Font and many plug-ins like Marathi SpellChecker and Marathi
Shaskiya ShabadKosh plug-in for Opensource Libre-Office, and instructed
that all Government offices across the state should be encouraged to use
these for creating any new documents.

indeed, this is one of the top requests we receive, telling what we need
the money for and what exactly it will be spent on.

Some of you may know that, about one week ago, German Heise publisher
posted our donation request to its newsticker, which resulted in
approximately 10.000 € (!) of additional donations. It was clearly
visible that the donations are tied to this report, and they went back
to normal as soon as the news vanished.

So, what we definitely also should work on is to get the word out to
major IT and non-IT media. I am convinced that this can give donations a
 big boost.

 Florian

I think we would also get more donations if people knew that we are having
to upgrade our infrastructure due to the large increase in demand from
project users and downloaders. If we could blog about it and pass it along
to the media we may get a little more traction with this.

A good location is the LinuxToday.com site. The last time I read up on its
readership, they were getting around 1 million readers a day. Their
coverage of the Linux sphere is quite good.

 Cheers,

 Marc

I think we need a sustainable financial source like what Mozilla do with
Google.

I was thinking about some thing like a feature that help us to integrate
with Google services like GoogleDocs.

Can we get the similar help from the Red Hat , Novel and Canonical in
addition to the developer contribution we already have?
It would be really great if we could have considerable budget for
Marketing/PR, and other work other than the infrastructure.

Even I propose to have a massage on the LibreOffice installer itself We
are non-profit,... etc etc and Would you like to donate up?

More technical details are available here:

and they're intensely technical as you can see.

The new features are not fully defined, but we need to work on all the
specific details on the announcement. Anything such as:
 - new features
 - specific messaging -remember:

 http://standardsandfreedom.net/index.php/2012/10/21/marketing-workshop-2012/within
our broader messaging is welcome. We need to convey who we are and
what we do, in broad and specific terms, and in various ways to the public.

In short, we need a shock team for product marketing; Italo will start
to work on the PR side of things later on.

I'd like to break a few work items so that people can own them:
 - new features : nice new webpage
 - web presence: banners, buttons, etc.
 - community presentation, facts, etc.
 - coordination communication with other teams: Design team,
localization / former Native-Lang teams, etc.

I'm sure I'm forgetting several items here. Please apply here if you'd
like to start on any one of these items.

I am working for both Fedora and Mozilla.
Mozilla REMO [1] project is much more closer to contributors than Fedora,
and also it has wider contributor base in terms of marketing as none Linux
users also using the Firefox. So, this is applicable to Libo as well.

success as an important part of the early developments of LO. It is
interesting to see that Gnome Office has a higher percentage than Lotus

I think the splashscreen is the wrong place. We should blog, write and
tweet about it, but the splashscreen should stay neutral, IMHO. :-)

how many people read the TDF or LiBo related blogs?

but how many people use Libo?

i learned that some of TDF people don't know how to get people in to their

i haven't read TDF blogs for several months and how can we expect others

but if some one saw the news on his desktop he may pass the message to some
one else.

the point i made will pass the TDF selected news many people who are not up
to date with whats happening here.
i don't think that 1% of Lobo users from my community won't read my own

the only thing the see is the PRODUCT

Thanks Tom :)

The English page does have at least one in non-English even though there
are some pages for other languages. Sometimes i am able to shift them to
the right pages and others i can get translation links for.

I knew i had missed something excellent!
Many thanks, congrats and regards from

On Sun, Sep 4, 2011 at 7:45 PM, webmaster for Kracked Press Productions
webmas...@krackedpress.com wrote:

You get LibreOffice people to be the local people. I know of a NY City
company that needs a minimum of 4 items per order, and Drew knows a one-up
 company.

Get local people involved to be the local/regional providers for the
items. Trust them to provide a share/donation to LO.
Since you would have to deal with individuals for the EU area for
printing/shipping, you will need to find them in the other regions that
would be the go-between for the orders.

What guarantee do you have for people who will produce DVDs and actually
donate part of the sales to LO? It is a matter of Trust.

If I could do a business out of my government-subsidized apartment, I would
sell copies of DVDs and LO items [polo shirts and such]. But I am limited
in what I can do. If someone wants a DVD from me, I could ship one to
him/her with a gift to cover me costs, but I could not sell them one [as
far as I know]. I shipped a copy [or three] of the NA-DVD to a guy in
Malta. He said he could help with the shipping costs. Whether or not he
does provide me with it, it is up to him, but I could not sell him a copy of
 the DVD[s].

So it is a matter of Trust. Do you trust people in the different regions
of the world to provide regional LO items and donate some of the income to
TDF/LO? Do you trust someone in the next city or country that is your
friend to do the same. It is all about Trusting people to do the right
 thing.

If you want to know about the New York City company that I would use to
print/embroider shirts, hats, etc., send me direct email off the list.

I am not talking about the TDF community but external people.

There was an incident here about selling Firefox Tshirts without informing
to the Mozilla.

Otherwise we have to mention the regional suppliers in the TDF site itself.

I am also voting for regional stores as I can by 3 tshirts for the total
cost of Europe/US price

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] TDF Certification

2011-08-27 Thread Danishka Navin
Organizations will earn a certified status if they employ or contract at
least 3 certified individuals, each one with a different specialization.

in addition to the above technical requirement we could set a fee to get a
training partnership from TDF.
As we know local trainers can get the advantage of TDF and Libo brand name.
So, we could set an annual fee for each partner and discounts as per the
volume of products (trainings) selling.

Yes, It would be better to keep it in a common place.
And also we can update the content time to time with a version number.

Hi Danishka, this is something that I have had in my ToDo list for a few
months. I have done several TDF presentations during the last few months,
and I should be able to put together a slide pack for early September (as I
have a presentation planned for the second weekend of the month). In any
case, I would like to discuss the slide pack with the marketing community at
the Paris conference before considering it official.

Thanks for the info.

Since this is a global community it would be better select a location for

We decided to provide it for OpenOffice, a platform independent, freely
