I get ticked-off [I would use other language, but not here] when people do not seem to want to deal with helping people with accessibility issues within their packages. As I understand it, from staff on agencies that work with the disables/impaired individuals, the numbers of individuals needing accessibility options is a growing percent of the population in the USA. I am one of those individuals. I have learned to compensate for my issues since the early 1970's. My typing skill is affected but back when I started typing, there was no options to use to help people. With the spread of speech-to-screen computer controlling packages, this helps many individuals, but not me. My speech is also affected since my first stroke. But, I deal with it my own way. So it would be nice to get information to be passed on to those agency staffers. I did get someone to point me to a wiki page to help me see the goals of the LibreOffice Accessibility work. I thank that individual for his help. Wrong comparison. He doesn't want to learn to talk to whales, but asks for information about whales on the list of a mammal research institute. Wrong tone. [libreoffice-marketing] help please - accessibility info
help please - accessibility info I do not want to be a part of the Accessibility List, but I would like to know what is being done to help those with this type of issue. I am on the Board of the Kiwanis Aktion Club of Elmira New York. This Kiwanis family organization [International, Regional, and Local] is dedicated to the adult community that have a disability or some type. You must be an adult with a disability/impairment to be invited to become a member. So, I am always interested in ways for software packages [and computers in general] to be accessible to the needs of those with disabilities/impairments, to allow these individuals to be able to use the products. I deal with many members with hand injury issues to developmental issues. I deal with a few blind individuals as well, but that that is a much harder impairment issue group to use computers, except through voice controlled and text reading systems. Could I receive some information on what is in the future of LibreOffice's accessibility efforts? Would a list of what some needs for some the various disables/impaired individuals to make a software package fulfill those needs? I myself and physical impairments and other issues placed upon me from several major injuries and three strokes. That is why I am volunteering my time to help those who have it difficult to function in the local community like myself. T. Ok - let's start here - have you looked at the wiki page? http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Accessibility If you start with that page, what other information are you looking for? sorry for answering myself - but - for one thing the extensions information is well a bit weak, the information regarding ODTBraille.oxt is not present and the others lacking, IMO. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@libreoffice.org List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/www/marketing/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***
