Report from my presence @ FOSSCOMM 2013, April 20-21, Greece
Hello GNOMIES, I participated at FOSSCOMM 2013 [1], the Greek annual conference for open source comminities. This year I had a presentation called Gnome community gone crazy (same as Vincent's). It was pretty interesting to the audience. I also had a booth. I had some swag I got about 2 years ago from FOSDEM (I think). I had some T-Shirts and stickers. I made some buttons myself and some brochures presenting the community in general and the Greek Community. I have only some stickers left and I'll try to make more buttons for future events. Alex Diavatis participated to a round table with major projects. We were asked to write a report-article of the results (?) of the round table. You can check my general report [2]. The organizers gather all the pictures from the event and also they edit the videos. As soon as they have something, I'll update my report and also inform you here. Have phun, /Stathis [1] http://hua.fosscomm.gr/ [2] http://eiosifidis.blogspot.gr/2013/04/report-fosscomm-2013-april-20-21.html -- http://about.me/iosifidis http://eiosifidis.blogspot.gr http://blogs.gnome.org/eiosifidis Great leaders don't tell you what to do... Need some help to find information for a round table at conference
Hello Gnomies, Next weeked, we have a FOSS Communities conference in Greece. So far I'll have a booth and a presentation (it's the same that Vincent did at FOSDEM). I was asked to participate at a round table discussion with other major projects. The subject will be: 1. Short description of the community and the projects that the local community does. 2. How easy it's for someone to contribute at a project and what he/she needs to know (focus on Gnome). I ask for help for the second one. I don't have time to search since I organize the logistics of openSUSE booth and I'm alone :-( Thanks for help. Report from my presentation, Serres (Greece), March 11th, 2013
Hello Gnomies, I was in Serres for a presentation. SerLUG celebrates 5 years of their LUG with a day conference. I was asked to present how to use GNOME and what makes GNOME unique on openSUSE. Well, that's what I did. I present how to use GNOME 3.6 (and openSUSE 12.3). It was very helpful for the audience. They were about 80% windows users. I made the silly question how many use GNOME and only 2-3 hands went up. The audience were about 70 people. Anyways, I ended with the openSUSE conefence. I told them what to expect to see, why register now. I gave some left overs of openSUSE 12.2, brochures where to find Greek community. We also had a draw for an openSUSE T-shirt, as gift for their celebration. After the end of the event, we went to celebrate. As the title of my report says, what happens in Vegas...sorry Serres, stays in Serres!!! Have a lot of fun... openSUSE conference 2013, July 18th-22nd, Thessaloniki-Greece
Hello friends, From July 18 until July 22 2013, Thessaloniki (the second largest city in Greece) will be host to the fifth oSC. [1] Yesterday, there was an announcement [2] about cfp and registration to attend. The conference will take place at my city. I help organizing it. Check out the sponsorship brochure [3]. If you want to apply for a GNOME booth, let me know (and please contact Izabel). I have some GNOME swag here but I'll use it for another Greek FOSS conference (April 20-21). Also, I was thinking to organize an event for us to socialize more. Actually a day before the conference, it's my birthday ;-) Anyway, I hope to see you in my city. Re: We are GNOME movie
I agree. Remember I asked something like that for a conference in Greece? Well the organizers proposed that http://serlug.gr/?p=473 Every community has make a video of the group of people, where they act and the history and events they did. Personally I don't have camera to do that in Greek. I can add subtitles though to a video. FOSSCOMM 2011, May 7th-8th 2011, Patras, Greece
Hello friends, Μy name is Stathis Iosifidis and I'm from Greece. I'm involved with the marketing of openSUSE focusing on Greece. Next month we'll have in Greece the conference called FOSSCOMM (http://patras.fosscomm.gr/?lang=en). As it says at the FOSSCOMM page, the conference is: The purpose of the conference is the acquaintance between communities and groups -research and development- dealing with Free Software both in Greece and at an international level, the presentation of technological developments in the field, the presentation of innovative ideas, the collection of proposals for encouraging and promoting the Free Software/ Open Source Software and facilitating learning through presentations and workshops. The reason I'm writing this main is because I managed to participate Gnome with a booth and also with a talk (presentation or workshop). The talk would be about Gnome 3. I'm working on it. With this mail, I would like to ask if someone else would be in Patras (I assume Simos will be there) to help me. I would like someone to help me with the Promo materials that I need. Thanks in advance. Have a lot of fun. Stathis -- marketing-list mailing list marketing-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/marketing-list
