For people new to the list and a bit puzzled by this outburst, Joseph 
Catron is one of many Palestinian solidarity activists who tilts toward 
Assad. There are very many good people in this group who have made a 
tragic error. Somehow the reality that more Palestinians have been 
tortured to death in Baathist prisons than Israeli prisons does not 
register on them. This is what you call being intoxicated on your own 
ideology.

Like most little barbs Lou considers clever, it means exactly nothing. Have

When you see Lou write it, or anything of the sort, imagine a member of one
small Trotskyist sect calling a partisan of another a "Stalinist," and
you'll basically have the right idea. It's a combination of intellectual
sloppiness and rhetoric that - I guess? - is incendiary within an echo
chamber whose numbers might charitably reach the multiple dozens.

What exactly is the meaning of 'Baathist amen corner' that is different using 
the wording 'pro-Baathist'? Perhaps it is a uniquely US leftists' expression, 
or 
is it unique to this discussion list, where it keeps popping up?

I like the term amen corner because it evokes a congregation saying 
"amen" to a preacher. I was searching for a term that could best express 
the blind loyalty that a John Wight or a Pepe Escobar have toward Assad 
and this was the best I could come up with. Number two below covers it.
