[ ಒಂದು ಡಿಸ್ಕ್ಲೇಯ್ಮರ್ರು: ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕ, ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರು ಮುಂತಾದ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿದ್ದೇನೋ ಅಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿ, ಅಥವಾ ಟೀಚರ್ ಎಂಬ ಪದವನ್ನೂ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಲಿಂಗಭೇದವಿಲ್ಲ.] ತರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳ್ಳರನ್ನು, ಸುಳ್ಳರನ್ನು ಮೇಷ್ಟರಿಗಿಂತ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಯಾರು ತಾನೆ ಕಂಡು ಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ! ನಮಗೆ ಯಾವ ಮಂಪರು ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ಹಂಗೂ ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ ಪತ್ತೆ ಮಾಡಲು, ಸಿಕ್ಕಿ ಬಿದ್ದ ಕಳ್ಳನನ್ನು ದೈಹಿಕವಾಗಿ ದಂಡಿಸದೆಯೇ ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಲು. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಪೋಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆಯು ಮೇಷ್ಟರಿಗಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಸೀಟು ಕಾಯ್ದಿರಿಸಬೇಕು. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡುವುದೆಂದರೆ ಪೋಲೀಸ್ ಕೆಲಸವಲ್ಲದೆ ಮತ್ತಿನ್ನೇನು. ಬರೀ ಕ್ರೈಮ್ ಪೋಲೀಸಿನವರು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಇಲಾಖೆಯವರೂ ಸಹ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿಯಿಡಬೇಕು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ನಿತ್ಯವೂ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಷ್ಟರುಗಳು ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ಮಂದಿರದಿಂದ ತರಗತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಹೊಣೆ, ಅಥವಾ ತರಗತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಮೈದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ಶಿಸ್ತಿನಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬರ ಹಿಂದೊಬ್ಬರು ಸಾಲನ್ನು ಮುರಿಯದೇ ಹೋಗುವ ಹೊಣೆಯು ಮೇಷ್ಟರದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ಯಾರದ್ದು! ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಸಾಲಿನ ನಿಯಮವನ್ನು ಮುರಿದರೆ ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬದಿಗೆ ಸರಿಸಿ, ಐಡಿ ಕಾರ್ಡನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿ, ನೂರೆಂಟು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಕೇಳಿ, ನಂತರ ಸಾಲಿನ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದು ಹೋಗುವ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ವಿಧಿಸುವ ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರು ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಪೋಲೀಸ್ ಆಗಲು ಅರ್ಹರಷ್ಟೆ? ಮೈದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಪೋಲೀಸ್ ಮೇಷ್ಟರುಗಳು ಕೆಲ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳ ನಂತರವೇ ವೈದ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಬದಲಾಗುವುದೂ ಉಂಟು. ನಡೆದು ಹೋಗುವ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇದ್ದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬರನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು ತಳ್ಳಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೀಳುವುದು ಸಹಜ. ಬಿದ್ದು ಮೈ ಕೈ ಗಾಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ರಂಪ ರಾದ್ಧಾಂತ ಮಾಡುವುದಂತೂ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ದೃಶ್ಯ. ಈ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರು ಬಿಳಿ ಕೋಟು ಧರಿಸಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಷ್ಟೆ. ಕೇವಲ general physician ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಆಳವನ್ನು ಹೊಕ್ಕು, ಅವರ ವಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಬದುಕಿನ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಗುಣಪಡಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಪಡಲು ಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ರೀತಿಯ counseling ಮಾಡುವ ಮನಃಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞನೂ ಆಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ (ಆಗಿರಬೇಕು). ತಾನು ಯಾವ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಧರಿಸಿದರೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಾಗುತ್ತೆ, ಹೇಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಸಂತೋಷ ಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಅರಿತುಕೊಂಡಿರುವವನು ಮನಃಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞನಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ನೇನು! ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಪೋಷಕರಿಗೆ counseling ಮಾಡುವ ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರು ಯಾವ ಸಿಗ್ಮಂಡ್ ಫ್ರಾಯ್ಡಿಗೂ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಿಲ್ಲ. ಖಾಸಗಿ ಶಾಲೆಯೆಂದು ಆಗಲೇ ಹೇಳಿದೆನಷ್ಟೆ? ಆಗಿಂದಾಗ್ಗೆ, ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ, ಸಮಾಜ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ಗಣಿತ, ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರು, ಕಲೆ, ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತೆ. ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಗಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಮಾಡೆಲ್‍ಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸುವುದೂ ಮೇಷ್ಟ್ರುಗಳೇ. ಆರ್ಕಿಟೆಕ್ಟು, ಕಂಟ್ರಾಕ್ಟರ್ರು, ಕೆಲಸಗಾರ – ಮೂರೂ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಕಲಾವಿನ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಯೋಜನೆ, ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ, ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬಲ್ಲನು. ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಂತೂ ನಿರೂಪಣೆ, ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ಹಾಡು, ನಾಟಕ, ನೃತ್ಯ, ಯೋಗ, ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಕಲಾವಿದನ ಎಲ್ಲ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳೂ ಮೇಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಇರದೇ ಇರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಕಲಾವಿದ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಇಂಥ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ವನಿವರ್ಧಕಗಳ ಸೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗು, ಲೈಟು ಸೆಟ್ಟಿಂಗು, ಫೋಟೋ ತೆಗೆಯುವುದು, ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಮುಂತಾದವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮೇಷ್ಟರದು ಎತ್ತಿದ ಕೈ. ಸಿನಿಮಾದವರು ಕೆಲಸ ಕೊಡುವುದೊಂದು ಬಾಕಿ. ಶಾಲೆಯ ಬಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತೆ. ಡ್ರೈವಿಂಗ್ ಕೆಲಸವೊಂದು ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಕಂಡಕ್ಟರ್ ಕೆಲಸ ಗ್ಯಾರೆಂಟಿ. ಯಾರು ಯಾರು ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆಂಬ ಅರಿವು ಮೇಷ್ಟರುಗಳಿಗಿರಬೇಕಲ್ಲವೇ? ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಂತೂ – ಇಂಥದ್ದು ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಲಗೋರಿಯಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಫುಟ್‍ಬಾಲ್‍ವರೆಗೆ, ತಾವೇ ರಚಿಸುವ ಆಟಗಳಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಗೇಮ್‍ಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಗೊತ್ತು. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಮಾರ್ಚ್‍ಪಾಸ್ಟು, ಡ್ರಿಲ್ಲು, ಬ್ಯಾಂಡು ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಮಿಲಿಟರಿಯ ತರಬೇತಿಗಳು. ಆಯಾ ಇಲಾಖೆಯವರು ಈ ಪ್ಯಾರಾದ ಕಡೆ ಗಮನಹರಿಸತಕ್ಕದ್ದು. ಪ್ರವಾಸವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವುದು ಸುಲಭದ ಕೆಲಸವೇನಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು, ಯಾವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಬಾರದು ಎಂಬ ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಅರಿವಿರಬೇಕು. ಊಟ ತಿಂಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಪೂರೈಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಅಡುಗೆ ಕಂಟ್ರಾಕ್ಟರನ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯಿರಬೇಕು. ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೋ ಆ ಜಾಗಗಳ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗುವ ಜನರ ಹಿಸ್ಟರಿ, ಜಿಯಾಲಜಿ, ಸೈಕಾಲಜಿ, ಬಯಾಲಜಿ, ಅಡುಗೋಲಜ್ಜಿ ಕತೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಬೇಕು. ಗೊತ್ತಿರದಿದ್ದರೆ ಹೊಸ ಕತೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವಿರಬೇಕು. ರಾತ್ರಿ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಕ್ಷೇಮವೆಂಬುದು ಗೊತ್ತಿರಬೇಕು, ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಇವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕನು ಸಲೀಸಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಯಾನು. ಹಣಕಾಸು ವಿಚಾರದಲ್ಲೂ ಏನು ಕಡಿಮೆಯಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಿರಬಹುದು, ಆದರೆ ಲಕ್ಷಗಟ್ಟಲೆ ಹಣದ ಎಣಿಕೆ, ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಮುಂತಾದ ಗುಮಾಸ್ತೆ ಕೆಲಸವು ಶಾಲೆಯ ಆರಂಭದ ವೇಳೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಅಡ್ಮಿಷನ್ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಷ್ಟರುಗಳಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ಯಾರು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ? ಎಷ್ಟು ಹಣಕ್ಕೆ ರಸೀತಿ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು, ಎಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಬಾರದು; ರಾಮನ ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಯಾವುದು, ಕೃಷ್ಣನದು ಯಾವುದು; ಸಮವಸ್ತ್ರ, ಶೂ, ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಮುಂತಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ; ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾರಿದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪೈಸೆಯೂ ತನ್ನದಲ್ಲವೆಂಬಂತೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕವೊಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ತೆಪ್ಪಗಿರುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ – ಎಂಬುದು ಗೊತ್ತಿರುತ್ತೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ತರಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಚೊಕ್ಕವಾಗಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಆಯಾಗಳಿಂದ ಕೆಲವು ಸಲ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ, ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೆಲವು ಸಲ ತಾವೇ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತೆ. ಸಣ್ಣ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಎಲೆಕ್ಟ್ರಿಕಲ್ ರಿಪೇರಿ, ಮರಗೆಲಸದ ರಿಪೇರಿ, ಒಂದೇ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಗವಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬಾಗಿಲು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಒಳಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಬೀಗ ಮುರಿಯುವ ಅಥವಾ ಬೀಗ ರಿಪೇರಿ ಮಾಡುವ, ಬೆಂಕಿ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದರೆ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕವನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ನಂದಿಸುವ – ಇಂಥ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕೆಲಸವೂ ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ಬರುತ್ತೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕನಾದವನಿಗೆ. ಶಾಲೆಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಮರೆಯುವುದು? ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯೆಂದರೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆಯಬೇಕು, ಬರೆಸಬೇಕು, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬರೆದು ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಬೇಕು, ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗೊಂದು ಮುಖಪುಟ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು, ಒಳಗೆ ಪುಟಗಳ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ
