[MCN-L] rinascimento digitale project

2007-09-13 Thread Annamaria Poma-Swank
Dear all,
I am afraid that my previous quest was not very clear.
I am not conducting a review of museums management software.
I know about Chin review and other tools.
I am collecting information on the base of the 5 Ws (When, why, what,
where, who) on museum usage of managements tools, digital
preservation, software, standards, case studies, open sources,
folksonomies etc.
The FRD* is interested in collecting all these information to present
to the Italian operators involved in museums management (curators,
systems managers, art historians, archivists, librarians etc.) the
North American museums and cultural institutions' results, experience,
samples, problems, work flow, etc.
This is not the place to give a summary of Italian cultural
institutions, but I am sure you all are aware of the different history
and reality (henceforth somehow diverse management issues) of such
institutions if compared with the ones in the USA.
However we believe that the information collected could help us to identify
our needs and eventually create tools to satisfy them.
Any information or resources you can give me, are welcome.
I am especially interested in real life experience.
I will eventually create a questionnaire and ask at that moment I will
ask which institutions would like to be involved.
Thank you for your patience.
Dr. Annamaria Poma Swank
