Re: [MCN-L] Digital Badging in Museums Survey
Julie, Are you talking about Digital Badging as HĀSTAC and MacArthur talk about them? http://www.hastac.org/digital-badges http://www.macfound.org/programs/digital-badges/ I ask, because the concept is quite familiar, but this nomenclature isn't familiar enough for me to immediately identify the concept with the term. So when I took the survey, I answered no to the first question, and got booted out. You might be leaving some valuable information on the table. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I believe it's possible that others in the informal setting are doing things like this, but just not calling it digital badging. Re: [MCN-L] Digital Badging in Museums Survey
Hi Bryan, Thanks so much for your helpful response. I am referencing Digital Badging as discussed by HASTAC and MacArthur. However, throughout my research thus far, I have also found some alternative digital badging models/definitions, which is why I've hesitated to define the term in my introduction. Still, I can see how this terminology may be confusing to some potential respondents and will try to revise this introductory language as I continue to seek responses. If you would be willing to revisit the survey and respond yes, to the first question, your feedback would be greatly appreciated. I will be able to delete your previous no response. Thanks again for the feedback. Best, Julie Julie Woodard Internship and Career Advisor The University of the Arts 320 S. [MCN-L] 2015 AHFAP 30th Anniversary Conference - Call for Papers
Apologies for cross-posting The Association for Historical and Fine Art Photography (AHFAP) will be holding its 30th anniversary conference on 22 October at the RAF Museum, Hendon, London. Celebration and reflection¹ is the theme of this year¹s conference. Join us to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our founding in 1985. In honour of this special occasion we would like to ask for papers that discuss photography in cultural heritage at the association¹s inception, as well as changes in our work, equipment, techniques and the sector in general over the ensuing years. This is a wonderful opportunity not only to look to the future of photography, but also to understand its history and see how pioneering work has shaped our industry. The theme is not exclusive and papers on other topics and techniques relevant to our sector are equally welcome. It is planned that the timetable will accommodate papers of 15-, 30- and 45-minute durations. Please submit your proposals to i...@ahfap.org.uk by 31 July 2015. For further information and to book a place at the conference see http://www.ahfap.org.uk/conferences/2015-conference About AHFAP AHFAP was founded in April 1985 by groups of photographers in the photographic studios at some of the national museums in London. It was recognised that closer ties would benefit the profession and the association has met regularly ever since with an annual conference held in London. The association¹s main function is to raise the profile of image professionals in the cultural heritage sector and to encourage the exchange of professional knowledge and experience. There are now over 270 members in the UK and Ireland in all types of cultural institutions, from the largest museums to small commercial galleries and freelance fine art photographers. ___ You are currently subscribed to mcn-l, the listserv of the Museum Computer Network (http://www.mcn.edu) To post to this list, send messages to: mcn-l@mcn.edu To unsubscribe or change mcn-l delivery options visit: http://mcn.edu/mailman/listinfo/mcn-l The MCN-L archives can be found at: http://www.mail-archive.com/mcn-l@mcn.edu/
