Interface/Interactive Designer:

The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and 
publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of 
New Orleans and the Gulf South region. THNOC is a collection of over 35,000 
library items, more than two miles of documents and manuscripts, and over 
350,000 photographs, prints, drawings, paintings, and other artifacts. THNOC is 
currently accepting resumes for the position of interface/interactive designer.

The interface/interactive designer is responsible for creating intuitive and 
elegant interfaces and digital display designs for the website, exhibition 
interactives, online exhibits, databases, digital signage and other digital 
projects.  Working closely with the exhibition teams and the technology 
department staff, this position executes all visual design stages of 
interactives from conception to final hand-off.  This position will also play a 
pivotal role in designing and supporting our mobile platforms.


The ideal candidate must have a minimum of two years of relevant work 
experience in designing interfaces and a bachelor's degree in Human Computer 
Interactive, Multimedia, Information Technology or Design or a related degree.  
The successful candidate must have the ability to conceptualize original ideas 
that are user friendly and optimize the visitor experience.  The 
interface/interactive designer must be proficient in UX and UI design, Adobe 
Creative Suite, and various video editing software.  Proficiency in Drupal, 
CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery coding as well as HTML/HTML5 is also essential.  
The interface/interactive designer must also have the ability to learn and use 
museum specific software.  Additionally, the interface/interactive designer 
must possess exceptional communication, organizational, and problem solving 
skills, flexibility to an evolving work environment, the capability to meet 
concurrent deadlines, and an ability to work under minimal supervision.  
Preferred qualifi
 cations include typography, color, iconography and layout skills and working 
knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Final Cut Pro, and Modern Editor.



This is a full-time position Monday-Friday.  The Collection offers a

Job Opening: Collections Information and Database Specialist
Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA

The Collections Information and Database Specialist is responsible for 
providing IT management for The Museum System, the Peabody Museum's collections 
management database system, including day-to-day administrative management and 
documentation of the database.  The position also works with museum staff to 
develop and maintain cataloging standards, and develop new database procedures 
for increased productivity and accuracy.  The position also participates in 
developing and supervising future digitization projects and manages part-time 
staff who assist with the database.
