[MCN-L] ImpactHack - Museum hackathon in DC Sept 21-22

2018-08-30 Thread Kelsey Cvach
*The United States Diplomacy Center is hosting our first hackathon,
ImpactHack , in Washington DC this
September. 100+ developing technologists will work with subject matter
experts to use data visualization to explore stories of global
collaboration. Participants will expand their skills, problem-solving and
creativity while creating digital interactives that will serve as
prototypes for the Diplomacy Center museum. Topics range from refugees to
climate change. This is a unique opportunity for participants to connect
with the State Department and utilize experts from our partner, World
Resource Institute, and sponsors, AWS and Google.*

Please send around to coders and designers who may be interested, or stop
by to check out the event! We also have a limited number of $50 travel
sponsorships for those interested. ImpactHack.DevPost.com

Those interested in volunteering or learning more, please contact me at

staff and workflow of the Getty Research Institute imaging team, which focuses
on the digitization of materials such as books and archival documents as well

[MCN-L] Web benchmarking

2018-08-30 Thread Dueker, Peter
Hello MCN,

Happy late summer from the steamy Washington D.C.

I am doing some benchmarking of web traffic, in preparation for our next fiscal
year . Most of the web statistics I’ve seen for other museums are a few years
out of date, or generated by marketing firms (and not direct from the source).
For those of you working in web, would you be willing to share directly with me
your most recent complete calendar or fiscal year figures for:

# of sessions (site visitors - annually)
# of unique page views (annually and monthly average would be helpful)

It would really help me out – and will be kept internal to NGA digital staff.

Mahalo,

Peter Dueker
