Title: Technology Support Specialist
Department: Digital Infrastructure and Emerging Technology
Location: USA, MA, Cambridge, Harvard Art Museums
Time Status: Full-time

The Harvard Art Museums is seeking someone to support a diverse portfolio of 
technology ranging from internal business applications, to exhibition hardware 
and mobile apps. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker/problem solver who 
is as comfortable working with technology as they are working with the people 
who benefit from it. This is a job for someone who understands how technology 
can enhance the museum experience and is excited by all of the possibilities.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and within a team 
framework. They will assist in researching technology for exhibitions, the 
museum galleries, the web, etc. They will participate in the evaluation, 
selection, maintenance and evolution of technology at the museums.
It is essential that the Technology Support Specialist has the ability to 
explain technical topics to non-technical people. They must be curious how 
individual pieces of technology work but also how those pieces contribute to 
the whole of the Harvard Art Museums.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Independently research, test, prototype, and assess emerging technologies on 
a project by project basis. Prepare written analysis of findings, including how 
it will fit into the larger vision of technology within the museum, and, as 
needed, demo products.
* Participate in the selection of new technology for the Art Museums day-to-day 
operations and exhibitions.
* Work with the museums staff to develop plans for the implementation and 
deployment of technology.
* Provide hardware and software support for new technologies deployed.
* Provide end-user and backend support for existing business applications (e.g. 
Basecamp, Filemaker, TMS (The Museum System)).
* As needed work with various Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) 
groups regarding integration of new technology into HUIT's infrastructure and 
work with HUIT on the existing infrastructure they support for the museums.
* Support A/V equipment, mobile hardware, and other software/hardware used in 
exhibitions.
